Twisted Sister Video - "Eleanor Rigby"

Everyone loved Stereogum's Run For Covers™ Bonanza last week so much that we figured we'd do one more! Now, Dee Snider is an interesting cat, and we don't dispute his band's place in the annals of hair metal history -- but this is bad. Truly awesomely bad. One thing "Eleanor Rigby" never needed was guitar by the dude from Twisted Sister. And yet here you have it: "Eleanor Rigby" from Twisted Sister axe-man Eddie Ojeda's solo record, featuring Dee on lead vox.

Sorry for doing that to ya. But don't worry, this one doesn't appear on that Twisted Siser Xmas album we told ya about (which is still streaming here). That one's actually fun! This one's actually horrible. Which of course makes it awesome.

The video works, but I didn't know it was possible to destroy such a good song on such a level. People should know better.

Really want to hear that song destroyed? Panic! At The Disco have been covering it on their Nothing Rhymes With Circus Tour, go look for it on youtube, it's HORRENDOUS.

I never thought that I'd feel like listening to a panic at the disco! cover to make myself feel better.

there's a cover by Thrice that isn't as terrible, but the thought of covering this song is like trying to make a thanksgiving turkey with play-dough and thinking the colors will make it taste better

God, Cirque de Soleil has really gone downhill. I was about to buy that "Love" album, but geez, what happened, George Martin?

Actually, this is like one of those great "while meanwhile, not far away" '80s metal videos:

Eddie Ojeda is playing guitar in a ... swamp (i guess) ...

while meanwhile, not far away, dee snider is singing to no one in particular ...

while meanwhile, not far away, a bunch of people are walking to work

while meanwhile, not far away, a priest is about to date rape some chick.

I guess there really is no irony in today's world. I mean, this is awful in every sense of the word; an abomination of as great a pop song as there ever was. But you label this as "awesomely bad," and you promote it on your website, so it can't really be that terrible, right? I suppose the "irony" is that it's soooooo crappy that it has to be seen by the masses, and we laugh at it. But can't something just be shitty anymore? This sucks and it never should've been made nor promoted nor seen. Leave it at that.

Jesus christ that was bad.

This is the best possible Eleanor Rigby cover is mentioned here: http://www.gorillavsbear.blogspot.com/2006/08/look-at-all-lonely-people.html

Sadly, the mp3 link is dead. But go find it somewhere or something. It's insanely great.

Imagine you are working on the pre-production for this video. Think of only the parts where Dee is singing. Imagine trying to describe only that scene. Try not punching yourself in the face.
