U2's "Wave Of Sorrow" Premieres On Facebook
Chart topping, Grammy-winning The Joshua Tree hit stores twenty years (and eight months) ago and twenty million sales later, U2's got a bunch of deluxe editions in time for Christmas. There's a remastered CD, double 12", deluxe remastered CD with bonus disc of b-sides and demos, and 2-CD + DVD box. Even casual U2 fans like us have heard several of the rarities, but perhaps not "Wave Of Sorrow." That's the delicate, Langston Hughes-inspired outtake Bono's debuted on iLike, the social networking music platform backed by his VC friends. i liked the song. and i think that watching Bono explain the lyric here in an intimate setting, as opposed to a stadium stage, tells you how genuine his sentiment really is.

I agree with juano. Great band that for the most part turns out great material. They've definitely had some missteps (Pop is a big one) but I have to cut them some slack given they've been around for 30 years. And whether the fickle indie kids like it or not, U2 is an influence on a lot of the current indie faves.

It's nice to see a positive U2 post with positive comments, for once. I don't understand why people like to shit all over them, Bono especially. They're a tight, talented band who has put out some brilliant music over the years. Bono is certainly a good showman, but he's sincere.
I'd recommend the book "Bono On Bono" or "Conversations With Bono," or some title like that. I can't remember what the US title was. He clearly means what he says, and he knows he's not perfect. I think he's quite admirable, generally.

I have a theory that for a band to be considered truly great, they have to have had at least three truly great albums. I'd say that their run of Joshua Tree to Zooropa at the very least qualifies that.

YET ANOTHER EXCELLENT song from U2 - anyone who thinks they're excellence ended with Achtung Baby need to have their head examined or their ears checked.
And I think it's beautiful how Bono walks us through the story behind this touching song.
