Vampire Weekend And Crenshaw High School Drumline Visit Kimmel

Here's "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" live from the Pontiac Garage.

After appearing on SNL, Letterman, Blogothèque, and a condom PSA, is there anywhere we haven't yet seen these guys this year? Yes.

VW will perform at their first festival tomorrow (5:40 at Coachella's Outdoor Theatre ... wonder if they'll run into Islands?).

They also just won Best New Band at the NME Awards USA. Here's the Brit mag's backstage interview...

Get some rest, Chris!

i get it. they're down with the black people just like paul simon. they probably told these kids that they were from Harlem and tricked them.

There's a fine line between good-quirky and bad-quirky. This hangs on the balance with those strange vocals and how the whole thing kind of lazily floats by. Definitely something more suited for the studio, but that's not to say they can't charm with a live performance, as that little session at Columbia Univ. over at pitchfork.tv proves. I much prefer the string accompaniment over the drums.

Right, I'm sure the drum line had to be tricked into their opportunity to play on National Television.

If it makes you feel better, bearass, I'm told they looked for an all-white drum corps but couldn't find one. You racist bitch.

hey pee wee. it seems like maybe you took my comment completely out of any sort of context. that or you lack any ability to construct a logical, cohesive argument. your call.

cheers, kid

I agree with Jeff. Chris is already a fantastic drummer and although I like that they try to work guest performers into their appearances the drum line did absolutely nothing for me. Also, the band really clashed the with the whole style of cinematography that Jimmy uses in that garage of his, but that's hardly their fault.

Wow, that was an incredibly stiff performance.

I think i just puked a little in my mouth. That was grotesque. Is this the beginning of their Rhythm of the Saints. I sure hope not. Why won't they just go away. One of these days fans will let the light in and cast these vampires back to whatever hell they came out of. I'll do a little dance on their little one-hit wonder graves.

The band on the freecreditreport.com commericals is deeper than VW

I actually like the record but to me, you have this amazing drumline performing with you, they can probably do sick things and all they do is play along with the drummer? I just wanted more of them. That's up to VW to help arrange that part.

Not a VW hater. I read the title of the post and was excited. Then saw the video and was bored.
