Video From Radiohead's Santa Barbara Webcast

thumbnail icon: Video From Radiohead's Santa Barbara Webcast

Although the overlap between Barack Obama's DNC address and Radiohead's webcast of their final North American show this tour wasn't total and complete, from your Santa Barbara liveblogging, it seems more than a few of you devoted your night to Obama's Denver address. I think you guys chose wisely, both for the sake of Observing Significant Moments In American History, and for the sake of knowing that the Internet captures every move Radiohead makes in perpetuity anyway. What I saw of the concert was a nice reminder of my nights with them this summer, and a necessary chaser to hearing Chris Matthews yell at me about how essential Barack's speech was. We've rounded up what we could of the high-quality YouTubes out there from the Santa Barbara set, along with a setlist, for your pleasure.

That version of Idioteque was kind of weak.

They were a little exausted through the end. But it's still a nice performance from a classic band. I can understand that, this tour was not that short.
The opening was the best with 'Reckoner'.

Radio-WHO? The Beatles couldn't have peeled me away from that Obama speech. Bands will come and go, but people of real substance and character only come by once in a lifetime politically.

I watched maybe two minutes of Obama's speech. While he's got a loud (very loud..) and dynamic voice, he just comes across as an idiot-- as arrogant and close minded as your average liberal arts professor with classroom walls that grow larger by the day. This rhetoric about change is maddening-- it begs the question, what's wrong with the way things are now? How can America want change, how can "America" want anything? Individuals want to change themselves-- we want to work harder, be more compassionate, and think more clearly. We need someone who inspires these qualities, rather than someone who fights against them. And that goes for Radiohead too.

Way to have an attention span.

For you to suggest that there is nothing wrong in this country is more "arrogant and close minded" than anything Obama has ever said. The fact that you openly admit to only watching two minutes of one speech is a clear indicator of how much authority you have on the subject.

A particularly haunting version of cymbal rush. A little known, morbid, but affecting song this fan forgot existed. No-one does Thom Yorke quite like Radiohead.

It's got nothing to do with an attention span-- everything he says is an insult to the intelligence of Americans; "Don't think about things, they're awful, let me solve all your problems!" Listening to that kind of stuff infuriates anyone who thinks for himself.

if you're gonna hate on obama, at least have good reasons, not just the fact that he wants change. maybe you dont want change for yourself, but not everyone is fortunate enough to be spending their day surfing music blogs
