Weezer Perform "Greatest Man That Ever Lived" At The 2008 Video Game Awards

thumbnail icon: Weezer Perform "Greatest Man That Ever Lived" At The 2008 Video Game Awards

Christmas time got a little more Weezer when Rivers and gang covered six classic carols for the iPhone game Tap Tap Revenge. Because covering Xmas carols for an iPhone game is a thing that happens? Also, the Video Game Awards are a thing, and Weezer played the recently pop-up-makeovered "Greatest Man That Ever Lived" with a choir as the closing act at this year's big show. It works well visually to see the ending credits roll over, given the countless reprises and revisitations of the song's hook.

You'd think at least one of 'em would have a Guitar Hero controller up there. It's probably better this way.

As much as I hated everything post-Pinkerton, I do love this song.

Rivers didn't always look so awkward on stage did he?

He's usually got a guitar to hide behind.

Yes, most of the time he did look this awkward.

Rivers looks so awkward. He's not like that at the concerts I've attended though. He was even pretty chill at the Hootenanny concert in Georgia. Guess it was a bad night.

I guess it's due to having to perform in front of an audience that's just sitting down and not being able to feed off their energy. From what I've seen he's usually like he needs Ritalin, especially without the guitar. The bald guitarist dude is Dave Kushner of Velvet Revolver, by the way. He and Scott Shriner go way back, and I guess he's not really doing anything else at the moment, what with his band being singer-less and all.

BTW if the above video's been taken down, it's up at www.weezer.com

It was him just goofing around. He's playing for all the nerds. Of course he isn't gonna take it seriously. Wasn't awkward, but realized he was playing for 30 year olds still living at home.
