Weezer Cover Coldplay

thumbnail icon: Weezer Cover Coldplay

When Amrit was busy cataloging Weezer's recent appearances earlier today in order to put their Halloween performance at Hammerstein Ballroom in context, we didn't have footage of Rivers Cuomo in standard-issue tracksuit covering "Viva La Vida." He reads the lyrics off a sheet of paper, but clearly has Chris Martin's dramatic arm movements memorized. Cuomo went for it -- backed by piano, violin, cello, drums and bell -- on 10/28 before the rest of Weezer joined him onstage at P.C. Richard & Song Theatre, NYC, for one of those I Heart Radio "Stripped" shows.

Pretty funny. All the Weezer haters will take this too seriously and start attacking them again

That was an enjoyable few minutes. Mildly awkward, but enjoyable enough.

Rivers is our generation's Andy Kaufman.

That was a pretty brilliant observation. The more I think about it, the better it fits.
