White Rabbits Bring Their "Percussion Gun" To Letterman
Brooklyn sextet White Rabbits brought their crowd-pleasing post-Stomp indie rock to The Late Show last night via "Percussion Gun," the appropriately percussive opening track from their just-released, Britt Daniel-produced It's Frightening. But it's not frightening (try Mastodon instead). Letterman's excited about the "tremendously talented" Rabbits from the get go, and afterward the studio audience is all worked up too.

Saw them open for the Walkmen last January, then caught them again with the Walkmen and Spoon a couple months later and became a fan. I've listened to the new album a couple times already, and I think it's better than Fort Nightly. Really good from start to finish, whereas I thought Fort Nightly bogged down a bit in the second half.

I saw White Rabbits about a year or two ago at this little club in Dekalb, Illinois and they had 2 local bands open for them who sucked ass and then when they came on there were only about 13 people there and you could tell they hated it. But i had come specifically to see them because Fort Nightly was one of my favorite albums and they still played an ammmazing show. I'm looking forward to years of gold from this band, especially after hearing It's Frightening.

Bow Wow Wow was formed when Malcolm McLaren convinced the guitarist, bassist and drummer from Adam & The Ants to form a new group. When they left, they took their fancy, new Burundi-influenced beats with them.

YES IT IS AN EXACT RIP OFF OF C30! And it is worth noting Mr. Fussy Trousers, music historian. Especially when the beat is the most distinctive thing about the song and it is not a sample (which by its format indirectly acknowledges the original) Its a bit lame to lift something so unadulterated and not provide even an ironic nod to the source.

I've seen White Rabbits live in Portland, OR, at The Doug Fir. I have to say that Percussion Gun rips off the drums and some of the percussion from the guitar in Adam and The Ants' "Kings of the Wild Frontier". White Rabbits are good musicians with decent lyrics. However, I feel like they are running through cool songs of the eighties and sampling them into their own songs as if they were hip-hop artists. The effect is good but for some reason I'm still peaved. Any ideas?

All this talk about ripping off songs. I'll bet they hadn't even heard the Adam & Ants song when they wrote Percussion Gun. The guys were probably just banging on toms and found a cool groove and everyone really was into it. Pretty much no bands purposefully take parts of songs from other songs. No one thinks that is a cool thing to do, neither does it fulfill their creativity. it just happened. Either way the song still is original.

Dips is a DIPSHIT! That beat he so casually disregards as public domain is actually Bow Wow Wow's signature sound!!! The Burundi-style beat is unique to that band. Bitin' it calls for White Rabbits to BITE IT!
