Wilco & Fleet Foxes Cover Bob Dylan

thumbnail icon: Wilco & Fleet Foxes Cover Bob Dylan

The division of labor on this one -- a cover of Dylan's American Songbook staple "I Shall Be Released -- is precisely how you'd want it: Tweedy on lead, the hirsute harmony makers of Fleet Foxes filling out the backdrop. The performance was captured during one of Robin & Co.'s four shows with Wilco, at the INB Performing Arts Center (known in better days as the Opera House) in Spokane, WA. As it goes with Dylan tunes, the song's been covered to death, but this inter-generational collab of indie Americana all-stars is absolutely sweet, Marie.

Fleet Foxes and covers go well together. Unfortunately their dates opening for Wilco have come and gone, but there are still plenty of chances this year to see them. Do it. Meanwhile, Wilco has lined up a slate of dates opening for an icon their own, Mr. Neil Young. Torches are being passed everywhere. Here are those dates:

11/29 - Halifax, NS @ Metro Centre*
12/01 - Montreal, PQ @ Bell Centre*
12/02 - Ottawa, ON @ Scotia Bank Place*
12/04 - Toronto, ON @ Air Canada Centre*
12/07 - Detroit, MI @ The Palace Of Auburn Hills*
12/12 - Philadelphia, PA @ Wachovia Spectrum*
12/15 - New York, NY @ MSG*
* w/ Neil Young

And if you're in Spain and want to see Jeff Tweedy, you are in luck:
09/02 - Valencia, Esp @ Heineken Green Space
09/03 - Mallorca, Esp @ Palma Auditorium
09/05 - Altea, Esp @ Palau Altea
09/06 - Auditorio Murcia

Wow. 2 of my favorite bands of the moment, performing such a wonderful song. Great way to come back to reality after vacation.
