Wilco Live Video - "You Are My Face"

Now that you've had a few weeks to stew over Sky Blue Sky not being YHF 2.0, it's time to give the Tweedy troupe's latest a fair shake -- and since you're indoors avoiding the pretty summer weather, watching this vid of the Dead-indebted "You Are My Face" live at Spinner can make you feel you used your air-conditioned relaxation time constructively. Dig the dynamic shift from loping-guitar verse into Cline's fiery fretwork. Thinking Sky Blue Sky will sound live good live.

Take the jump for "What Light," "Hate It Here," and "Side With The Seeds" from the AOL sessions.

"...stew over Sky Blue Sky not being YHF 2.0"

A perfect comment.

I don't know about everyone else, but I kinda like the post-rehab, taking-stock-of-life Tweedy songs a bit more than YHF or AGIB. Not to say that I wasn't a huge fan of those albums, but there's something a bit more charming and personal about SBS.

That being said, I wish that they'd have played "Impossible Germany" in this set.

There's something about SBS that has the feel of a true classic, but the album still isn't what I really wanted from Wilco. So, I like it and I don't like it, if that makes any sense. I'm glad that Jeff's doing better, though. At least he's made the change from off-balance to balanced a lot more smoothly than, for example, Rivers Cuomo has.

I've already "stewed" over it. I've been stewing over it for months, as it's been in constant rotation, as it may, in my car and on my iPod. It doesn't have to be YHF 2, it is what it is, and what it happens to be brilliant.

Ditto on the the Jarrett Comment............ SBS is a future classic in a way that YHF of AGIB can/will never be. Nels talking in Shake it off about "Joe Cocker" leaking out of his subconsciousness is just one example of how this type of songwriting and performing draws together the musical archetypes over the past 40 years, updates them, Wilco-nizes them, and re implants them in the social consciousness for a new generation. I've got high school kids digging this album and they usually go for Panic! and FALL OUT and Chemical Weapon/Romance.....

The point is........... we are witnessing the birth of a timeless classic.... and we are luckier for it.

SBS may not be YHF 2 but it is a timeless, not to mention, brilliant record. I happen to love it.

Impossible Germany is the best song on SBS though!

Not YHF 2.0? Who cares. Sorry they didn't make another indie kid's wet dream. Overall I believe SBS is and has been extremely under-rated, possibly because of the all the hipsters so obsessed with knowing about new music they never took the time to listen to classics. SBS is possibly the best album of the year because Wilco is able to authentically replicate classic rock without bastardizing it like 99% of the bands out there these days.

The new Wilco album is really good! I love it, I think "Impossible Germany" is one of their best songs ever. I was not looking for YHF 2.0

That was really nice.

Call me crazy, but I here strains of "Us and Them" (Pink Floyd) when listening to that.

This is great, reading all the comments supporting this album instead of all the indie hipsters hating it is a fresh change. The moment I finished listening to the "secret" airing of the album on wilco's site months ago I fell in love and felt this was one of their best. I was beginning to feel like I was the only one who like this album and was constantly trying to get others to listen.
