Will.I.Am Condenses 50 Years Of Grammys Into 90 Unbearable Seconds

The biggest collective groan at tonight's beer-soaked liveblog came during "Professor" will.i.am's medley. Check out this totally nonsense homage to past Record Of The Year winners, from Bobby Darrin to U2.

Consider us schooled, Professor Will! Did you get your PhD in ruinin' shit?

wtf...
It didn't even sound rehearsed
it sounded like they were just giving him random songs and he was just free associating words to them

that was embarassing

just detach yourself from the situation and actually watch what is happening here. There's a stupid, talentless little man standing in front of millions of people talking absolute shit. What is he supposed to be? A rapper? A total embarassment. I couldn't watch the whole thing.

Wow, that was terrible. It's been a while since I felt that embarrassed for someone I neither knew nor cared about.

That was fucking awful. It's like a serious version of Bill Murray's "Nick the Lounge Singer". And you think with 50 years of Grammy,Slammy,Jammy's....that they would have had some older acts play live. But we had to make time for this crap?

Awful.

Let us not forget that this is the same douchenozzle that sampled Daft Punk's "Around the World" in one of his remixes and was so sure he was doing DP a favor that he even shot the video before getting permission to even use the sample in the first place.

And yet this dude has mountains of money and I bet Jeff Magnum has none. There is no justice. ;)

granted will i am is absolutely terrible, I think you could have picked out several other worse parts to the grammys. At least the beat it nod was interesting. I hate it when a stereogum editor dictates how the comments are going to go. Have your own voice people!

The thing that made no sense to me about this is the fact that didn't his album absolutely completely bomb and isn't this suppose to be where the best musicians are showcased. That is the problem with the grammys now, it's not the best, it's just whatever the record companies want to shove down our throats. It used to be decent because it actually celebrated good music. I'm getting sick of this core of Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Foo Fighters, and so on every single year. There are so many good bands out there (the shins, system of a down, new pornographers), as well as other great rappers. Why does it need to be the same mediocre people every year. AND ENOUGH WITH THE COMMERCIALS, CHRIST

See... this is what you get when writers strike!
"Oh you mean I gotta write this stuff myself? Cram as much as I can into a minute long medley? Well I don't remember more than the chorus line of any one song because thats pretty much all I sample when making my own "original" music... yeah I think I can do this live."
