William Shatner's Stone, Stoned
We already told you that William Shatner's last album was actually pretty good, but with the news that the former Captain of the Enterprise sold his kidney stone to an online casino for $25,000 (proceeds go to Habitat For Humanity), now seems like a good time to watch Shat cover Elton John's "Rocket Man" at the 1978 at the Science Fiction Film Awards. Not sure what he's smoking there, but it looks like he's gonna be high as a kite by the time Best Supporting Android gets his award. (Link via Andrew Sullivan, et al).

Most ridiculous thing ever. I'm sure of it.

What I love about Shatner is how much he COMMITS to whatever he's doing, whether it's in his acting or his music. The man really gives it all he's got - that's the quality he shares with the greatest actors and musicians of his generation.
It is, in fact, the ONLY quality he shares with the greatest actors and musicians of his generation.

Er ... y'all remember Stewie parodying this on Family Guy, right?

Most obscure Family Guy reference off the top of my head: "We. Make. Holes in teeth."
But that doesn't beat South Park's "Fighting the frizzies at 11." I'm proud to say that I'm one of the super-weird people who got that when it aired (I was obsessed with Star Wars as a kid).
Can someone tell me what that Peanut Butter Jelly Time thing was?
I love Shatner because he doesn't have talent, he transcends it.

I don't see how Shallow is the rip on Naive Melody...you should really here 'Shake It Off' by Ninja High School...it is basically the tune of Naive Melody, but with teenagers shouting rap over it. Not that I don't totally love that shit.
