"Voldemort Can't Stop The Rock"

Congrats to Vicky on landing her first U.S. News & World Report cover story! It's all about Harry Potter and includes a sidebar we thought would interest Stereogum readers:

With his packed schedule of quidditch practice, potions homework, and battles with pesky Death Eaters, Harry Potter probably doesn't have time to start a band. But he does have fans who will do that for him, in particular brothers Paul DeGeorge, 26, and Joe DeGeorge, 18, who don Brit schoolboy duds and rock out—mainly at libraries and bookstores—as the group Harry and the Potters.

Both brothers appear on stage as Harry, and they sing original tunes—with titles like "My Teacher Is a Werewolf" and "The Wrath of Hermione"—from the boy wizard's perspective. "Harry is very independent with a DIY [do-it-yourself] mentality," Paul explains. "He's very punk rock."
Listen here. They're touring libraries this summer. Good luck with Pitchfork, boys.

That's cool. Has anyone here read the new HP book? Any good? By little sister has got it, and I'm a bit dubious about reading it. Might as well, though.

They are indeed the awesomeness. Actually, I'm glad to see they're getting a bit more coverage - I've known them since forever and even got them to play at my school here in the UK. You can read about it on their site. A splendid time was had by all.

Holy shit...they came to my school this past year. They put on a great show and as soon as I found out about their tour...I posted it on my blog. OH, and if you're interested in hearing The Management, the band on tour with Of Montreal, let me know and I'll send some tunes your way. They are sure to be on the O.C. in no time.

Anyways, back to Harry and the Potters. Best. Band. Ever.

Maybe I can make a market of my "I Snogged Ginny Weasley...Twice" shirts!

i'm not ashamed to say i own every one of their cds! i just have to get them to play over here or get my butt down to boston or NY.

to whoever asked about the new HP, it's amazing! there is a few low points just like every other HP book but this one is my favorite with the third of the series.

I think the best part of my Harry and the Potters experience was going over to the merch table and buying a "Rock the Library" t-shirt... from their mom.

I saw them last month when they played the Cambridge River Festival. I just happened to be around as they followed a band I had went there to see. Their music is interesting and they do rock.
