Damn, got my hopes up for one brief moment in hoping the Gorillaz were submitting a Screamin' Jay Hawkins cover. Guess we just can't be that lucky. Still, it's a stellar line up. I'll definitely be picking this up in the weeks to come.

unfortunately this is pretty terrible, just a collection of some crappy, boring d-sides. a shame since it is for a good cause

I listened to the clips, and it sounds pretty solid to me. I'm really into Hard-Fi riht now, and their contribution on the CD sounds like a song I want to own. Also, The Zutons can do no wrong in my book. I'll definitely pick up a copy of this when it's released.

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...
