Warriors, Come Out And Rock

The annual and free Siren Festival takes over Coney on 7/15. Brooklyn Vegan has been doing his homework and believes this to be the line-up:

Scissor Sisters
Stars
Tapes 'n Tapes [bloggers like them!]
Art Brut
Dirty on Purpose
The Stills
Deadboy & The Elephantmen
The Rogers Sisters
The Cribs
Celebration
She Wants Revenge
Priestess
Man Man

Rumored 14th act is Serena Maneesh. Or Haunted Pussy. This year I'm gonna kick Jess Gawker's ass in Dance Dance Revolution. Been studying my Bees and everything.

Is it Siren or just indie rock in general that gets worse every year? Man.

Bring back the Dirtbombs.

That's actually a really weak line up, althought I would like to see stars and the stills...

looking forward to finally catching art brut. am i the only one in town who hasn't seen them?

i've seen priestess before though. very glad to see them added to this to add something else to the lineup. tremendously real, unpretentious rock band that's all about "songs" and umm..rock..and fun...

beer and weenies far all!

I'm excited for Scissor Sisters, Art Brut, The Rogers Sisters and Celebration. I think they'll actually have enough charisma for daytime rocking (many good bands don't).

Time to show some love for Desdemona... Ghostface Killah, The Walkmen, Annie, The Fiery Furnaces, The Stills, Stellastarr*, Mates of State, Radio 4, We are Scientists, Rogue Wave, Enon, Heartless Bastards, Forget Cassettes, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, VHS or Beta Dee Jays, Northern State, and more...

Not free, but not bad at $24 for all 3 days...

Sorry, done plugging now.

Desdemona is gonna be awesome... CMJ festival in cleveland june 15th-18th. Dirtbombs, Detroit cobras, stills, dr dog... all that good shit. Then Kyahoga fest on august 3rd: wolfmother, death cab, flaming lips and, uh, death cab.

Deadboy is reason enough to go to siren.

... And I cant believe I accidentally mentioned death cab twice, when I was debating on leaving them out of the post entirely. Perhaps I am a subconcious fan.

i dunno, siren seems ok this year. I saw Art Brut once (hah) and they were great. And the Stars are good in concert too. Does anyone know if TV on the Radio is performing anywhere else in NY besides Prospect Park?

For anyone interested in more concerts i found this online:

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
