We Are Scientists - "The Great Escape"

This song appeared on an EP WAS released called The Wolf's Hour, and it's also on the forthcoming album With Love And Squalor. It should, in fact, be on every album released ever, since it's so awesome. The drums... holy fuck, the drums. I guess they are technically not indie rock, since they're signed to Virgin Records. And... no one cares. Not when there's hi-hat being ridden like that.

We Are Scientists - "The Great Escape" (MP3)

WAS aren't selling their self-released EPs on their website? Have those been resigned to "collector's item" status?

When they did an in-studio with us they said that the EP was no longer available. I don't know if they'll ever repress it or if it's just gone. We've been playing a combination of tracks from that original EP and the songs off the European single for "Nobody Move Nobody Get Hurt".

Anybody else think this band's singer sounds like the lead singer from Britpop flash-in-the-pan Gene?

WAS are less than thrilled with some of their back catalogue (like SFL(ITO) for example). Also, The Wolf's Hour wasn't heavily circulated because it makes up about half of their new album on Virgin.

Glad to see them getting some love on the 'Gum though. These fellas deserve every bit of pretty they can get.

These guys are great. They were probably the highlight of the first day of the Reading Festival.

Now if I could only get my hair to look like the lead singer's so that my London friend will make out with me some more...
