It says somewhere in the article Weezer wants to lose fans, at least that's what I Felt it was hinting at so maybe releasing a crappy single has something to do with that. Also I'm sure the record companies (especially geffen) has a huge say in what LP track is released as a single. Has anyone hear actually heard the whole album? That might be the only bad song, who knows. Other than that though It's hard to believe some of Rivers' little experiments like locking himself in a closet for two weeks.

I've read the Weezer updates. I've read some of Rivers' blog. I've heard the whole saga. I loved the Blue album. How fun and awesome was that at the time? Pinkerton was good too. I even warmed up to Green. But to find out that we have been waiting years for... this bull shit? Beverly Hills? That's where he wants to be? That is his spiritual revelation? The song is a bit of a let down considering the amount of time waiting. The lyrics seem incredibly contrived because at this point he has the money to live in Beverly Hills so there is no point in reminiscing.
But I'm going to wait for the whole album.

i think weezer was just far too much of an integral part of my early teen years for me to hate them completely, regardless of how disappointing this single is (tongue-in-cheek humor, i get it, rivs--it's not funny). i've still got hopes the remainder of "make believe" will be good though...

i have observed this interesting trend where people discuss and get dissapointed in weezer for being such a douche of a band because they used to be such little indie darlings. why can't people just let it go. yeah at one time they made some good albums. but as far as i am concerned their recent work (last 3 albums) were pop trash and nothing more....face it kids...they are gone FOREVER !!! It's interesting - nay, amazing - to me that anyone could take Weezer seriously at all. They are, and always have been, a gag band; it's just that the gag changes periodically.
