What Would Jesus Listen To?

NY Post reports the new Pope has an iPod Nano filled with classical tunes, religious music, and Tapes 'N Tapes (kidding).

Presented to him by staffers at Vatican Radio (is that on Sirius or something?), the back is inscribed "To his Holiness, Benedict XVI," Just like Stereogum's. In accepting the gift, his Holiness noted "computer technology is the future."

Lame. You know John Paul II at least had Joshua Tree on his.

The iPod isn't the only thing Pope Benedict's rocking in order to "get with the times". Check out his big gold chain with the iced down crucifix. Though that guy next to him seems to be rocking an even BIGGER gold chain. If you are going to be in the Pope's crew, you really can't be trying to out-bling him during photo ops.

Also, why is he wearing a yarmulke? Someone should really have a word with that guy.

"computer technology is the future."

The Pope is really going out on a limb with that one.

"technology is the future" ???

What is it with the church and their antiquated ways? Everybody knows that plastics are the future.

What would Jesus listen to? The Carpenters, of course.

Joey, know your popes... that's JP II, not Benedict. Benedict wouldn't give devil-worshippers like Bono the time of day. Although he does, to my knowledge, wear that yarmulke thingy.

I'd like to express my shock and disbelief that nobody has made a Kidz Bop joke about this. Oh come on, doesn't it seem so obvious?

Wasn't obvious to me.

Hey Scott, fix the title.

Isn't that dood supposed to be listening to God for all of his peeps? Sounds like Mr. Pope is slacking a little bit. I wonder what parties he is going to at SXSW...

I'll BET he had Scorpion's "Rock You Like a Hurricane" on there. And "Save a Prayer."

Damn... you're right Edwin. I should have known by looking at the chain. JPII wore the crucifix, Benedict wears a platinum glock studded with diamonds.

I'm thinking "Get Up, Stand Up" as a bit of a Lazarus tribute.

Or maybe "Crown of Love?"

If Jesus was alive, first we wouldnt care what he'd be listening to since he'd be just like us, a bum surfing the web, looking for excitement on blogs. Anyways I figured he'd be listening to Yanni cuz he'd think he's one of his apostles, or Jpop, about love, peace, and great allegories (NOPE!). He'd probably put a Garth Brooks child in his Christmas nativity as well, and have Da Vinci's Fleetwood Mac last dinner's painting on his wall with Nicks holding the Holy Joint. Im pretty sure he would also own an original 7 inch of OPUS DEI'S "life is life".

I was kind of getting a kick out of thinking about the pope listening to some nwa or black sheep or insane clown posse, or something like that. that'd be a good one.
