When Is A Cover Not A Cover?
When it's a "translation", of course. Do It Old Maid has tracks from Indie Translations of The College Dropout, including "Through The Wire" (by Belaire). Does anyone have a leak of his next video, the one he's making with Michel Gondry and Adam Levine from Maroon 5 at Macy's where they have dancing suits and police car bed races and Buddha gets really tiny and jumps into Gondry's head where he shoots Roxy Music and all these cats come out of their own noses? Because I don't want to wait until Christmas for it. (via Mono 211)
Also, here's Bright Eyes translating Feist's Mushaboom, which just proves that 68% of that song is her voice.

Never mind, not Michel Gondry version, but another version of it Kanye directed.

gondry is cool and all, but bright eyes covering mushaboom makes me sad. it's a song that shouldn't be covered by anyone else (and i doubt anyone else will anyway) because it simply won't be mushaboom anymore.
mushaboom.

i forgot to add that it's a cover by bright eyes.

Okay, I've always hated Bright Eyes, and that cover of Mushaboom gives me more ammunition for my hate. That was ludicrously awful.

Ow, OW. Those "translations" (or what you can hear on that mangled site) are the most painful, neutered pieces of indie white-boy bullshit I've ever heard. The cover of "School Spirit" made me want to sit down and cry. Who are these people who need their hip-hop "translated" anyway?
