Where Are They Now?: D'arcy Wretzky As previously mentioned, the reclusive former Smashing Pumpkin called Chicago Q101 to ramble about Davy Jones, life on a horse farm, the band Panic Switch (i.e., Silversun Pickups), and Marilyn Manson. It's awkward. Listen in (via smashingpumpkins.com).

I bet the picture on that page is not what she looks like right now.

Just really really sad to listen to. Loved the band when I was a kid, first concert I ever saw was the Pumpkins.

For what it's worth, Silversun Pickups are definitely indebted to the Pumpkins...

I don't think she sounds as bad as people are making her out to. Anyone who ever listened to interviews with her back in the day knows she was a bit odd/said weird things. No idea why she chose to call a radio station though...

Maybe my tolerance for "crazy" is higher, but I don't hear anything that crazy??? If anything, she's just sounds down to earth??? Seriously, she's been living out on a farm....She actually sounds like someone who is coherent and knows what she is talking about??? She sounds like someone who has a passion for music? Where is the insanity that everyone is talking about? She sounds like a normal rational person.

I love the old Pumpkins...but it's clear D'arcy is on something. It could be excessive Red Bell. It could be speed. Weird sayings aside, she never talked all fast and intense like that. Anyway, she still sounds way more sane than Billy these days

Is it just me, or did she imply that she fucked Marilyn Manson? (gets douche chills)

douche chills: simply the worst kind of chills.

a genuinely nice person with scatterbrained conversation tactics on a bad day, it seems. it'd be pretty sweet to ride horses with D'arcy from the Pumpkins, though.

There have been persistent rumors that she has become a crack head.

I thought the comments might have been exaggerated, but she definitely sounds messed up. The was very uncomfortable to listen to, especially when she talks about Marilyn Manson's parents freezing rats that they names after the members of SP, then freezing them when they died.

Regardless of whether D'arcy was/was not high as a kite at the time of this interview, I think we can all agree her ranting and raving is so superior to the recent musical offerings of Uncle Fester... oh, I'm sorry, his name is Billy Corgan, isn't it?

It's a cruel world. D'arcy is obviously going through a hard time right now-- as she says at the beginning, her ex-boyfriend died a few days ago. Hearing Davy Jones on the radio made her feel good and, I assume since she was in an emotional state, she decided to call the radio station and talk about it. All that is fine. Then the internet collectively laughs their asses off at her, including Pitchfork. Ok, the dead rats story was a little bizarre, but otherwise, there's not much here that makes me feel like everyone should be mocking her.

i think you people talking smack about d'arcy and how she is probably high should do a little research before you make these comments. search for some old interviews online, and you will see that she has always talked/sounded like this.

By stating that she sounded like this in old interviews you are trying to imply that she is not on drugs. Exactly the opposite. She is STILL on drugs.

that may be true- but i've been reading pitchfork, stereogum, etc., and the feeling i get from the headlines and the comments is that d'arcy has gone crazy over the years of reclusion and she's gotta be on drugs now.... it's the same old d'arcy. that's my point.

It's such a pity becuz somehow she sounds lonely and in despair and she repeats herself all the time and even the long pauses and the tone of her voice that changes throughout the phone call suggest some sort of mental instability...... I feel really really sorry for her because she sounds like she's still on drugs.... I'd really like to see her again on stage but i know that this is unlikely to happen.. I miss the original Pumkins line up :(

She's fine. She's going through a lot at the moment. Not every celeb that hasn't spoken publicly in years is on drugs. Idiots.

At least she's out of the spotlight. No matter what she may or may not be doing, it seems that she made a good choice by leaving the Pumpkins. For her own sake. Because I loved her as a part of the SPs. But it's her health that matters, of course.
She has always had a quirky personality, at least from what I've heard and read about her. Whether or not she is on drugs none of us know for sure. She was obviously having a bad day when she called the station. Let's just hope that's all it was and that she is healthy.

I guess the years of smoking crack and sucking dick in Hollywood are taking their toll.

I hung out w/SP when they were on top and she was no picnic.

Stupid bitch.
