Where Have All The Dash Boys Gone?

Here's an interesting promotional gimmick. Dashboard Confessional are making the first single from new album Dusk And Summer free...

...if 50,000 people download the 40 second preview and let Windows run some DRM nonsense on their computer.

They're 43,000 people short so far.

"Where are the emo kids when you need 'em?" Chris Carrabba might be wondering. Listening to "Fall Out Boy" we assume.

Download (a part of) "Don't Wait" here.

What's a DRM? Not that I'm itching for dashboard, I just don't know what that is.

Its a little demon that sits inside your computer and invites all his viral friends along to have a party at your expense. When the hell will people learn? You just can't write proper DRM code without exploiting some flaw in the computer. Happened with Starforce, happened with Sony. I mean cmon!

Hey,
I just spent a few hours in Alt sitting a few feet from you guys while you got wooed by Mr. Super Cool California CEO type dude.
I'm not gonna out your possible deal, but I am curious (having had similar sales pitches thrown at me) how much of it you're gonna go for.
Living in the East village for 20+ yrs, I enjoy independant voices like stereogum.

Stay calm, relax, think everything through,
don't be pressured,
do what you need to do,

A fan,
Mark
