New Disorder

Been following the drama? News had flung far and wide about the demise of new wave stalwarts New Order when Peter Hook took to the press to say the fat lady had grabbed her synth and sung -- until Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris rebutted with something to the effect of "Well, Hook is gone, but New Order lives on." Acrimony ensues!

Peter's decided to cast the next stone in a respectable, private forum. And so we turn to Hook's MySpace blog (via NME):

never assume anything! This group has SPLIT UP! you are no more new order than i am! you may have two thirds but dont assume you have the rights to do anything NEW ordery cos you dont ive still got a third! But am open to negotiation.

...

See you in court! love hookyx

Such a bizarre love triangle. More on the impending New Order court orders as they come.

This looks bad ...... and I'm not much a NO fan either - more Joy Division. Speaking of which, maybe this is all just publicity for the Ian Curtis biopic.

Oh, and the "Bizzare Love Triangle" reference ...... kinda prophetic, isn't it. I liked Frente's cover better. Still have that cassette single from 13 years ago. Love has torn both bands apart.

this was totally stupid on Hooky's part. he wants to take this to court? he's gonna lose.

frente's cover better?

oh god.

i love new order, but they have the WORST lyrics.
they can quit already. we'll always have 'power, corruption & lies'.

and monaco. what the hell was that all about? loved the single though.

Being a big fan of Joy Division and partial to New Order on occasion it's a pity these guys seem to have run out of affection for each other.. Wouldn't mourn the passing of the band at this stage because their best stuff is almost certainly long behind them but it's unfortunate to see them in a public spat like this. Maybe they just need a couple of years apart.

I have but one thing to say about this. Just one thing.

A Momentary Lapse Of Reason.
