Nina Persson, Clipse Added To CMJ

Newly announced acts for this year's NYC rock marathon include:

The Decemberists
The Fall
Shooter Jennings
Rooney
Dragons of Zynth
Swearing at Motorists
French Kicks
Pinker Tones
Bobby Conn Big Band
Gang Gang Dance
Nina Persson
Chin Up Chin Up
Saul Williams
Nina Persson! Finally. And Bobby Conn Big Band? We're psyched.

However, we're most intrigued by Virginia hip-hop duo (and Pharrell friends) Clipse. Stream their second single “Wamp Wamp (What It Do)” featuring Slim Thug here: REAL | WIN MEDIA.

Why Clipse? 'Cause Malice and Pusha-T want to lynch everyone at their label! Yikes. Pusha tells Rolling Stone:

“I hate Jive. I hate them motherfuckers. With all my heart and all the passion and my soul I hate these bitches. It’s about the lynching of every staff member up in this motherfucker. ... You could ask anyone in here to give you a marketing plan on Clipse and they could never do it. It’s like damn, ‘What do you understand about hip-hop? You ain’t had nobody since Spice 1! You don’t know the fucking formula. Everybody in here’s like 50 years old! Just drop us. Leave us the fuck alone so we can go where there’s plenty of people like Clipse.”
The much-delayed Hell Hath No Fury album should finally hit stores in late November. Or never.

I did wonder what happened to Clipse. I know there are a lot of come-and-go rap groups, but they're friends with Pharrell, so I figured they'd at least have another single from their next album. Then I read about their bad treatment from their label.

Anyway, thanks for the link; I'd read about the song and wanted to check it out. It's pretty cool. I think one of them says "Me hesitate none pop ya."

"INTRIGUED" by clipse? are you kidding me? i can't believe how many people completely forgot about this group. they were the biggest rap act in the land when "Grindin'" dropped, and followed that up with more hit singles. We Got It 4 Cheap Volume 2 is the hottest mixtape in years, and Hell Hath No Fury is all killer, no filler. you're one of those cats who's never heard of Binary Star, aren't you?

We Got It 4 Cheap Vol 2 is fuckin sweet, so is We Got the Remix (w/DJ Benzi & Evil Empire). Didn't the original version of Hell Hath No Fury leak about a year ago? Then things went south and they re-recorded it, right? Does anyone have an early or current version of Hell Hath...?

Nina solo? That's odd. I'd still like to see it, if only on youtube.

Shit I don't even have the leaked version... I would LOVE that... anyway... the Clipse are fucking trail blazers... it sucks that the 'coke and guns' rap that they did so well (by making it somewhat human, and at least engaging) only became popular with Jeezy and stupid fuckers like that... and the minimal/stark/dark production ended up only being popular when it sounded retarded (see Fergie's "London Bridge")... fucking sad... I hope when that album drops it fucking destroys the charts... I hope every single goes to number one lol...

Yeah, the 'We Got It 4 Cheap' mixtapes were some of the best hip-hop records last year. The new release date for the album is 12/12.
