It's Probably Just The Drugs

While most are busy just trying to figure Pete Doherty's degree of intoxication, Noisettes-guitarist Dan Smith poses a different question: Is Pete an egomaniac, or simply a saboteur?

The story: The Noisettes were opening for Babyshambles at a gig in Birmingham Academy on Sunday night, and a restless crowd began with the boos. But troopers that they are, the Noisettes had every intention of closing out the set –- until their singer Shingai jacked her shoulder while cartwheeling across stage! Maybe the crowd's calls for her head distracted her. And though the band ended up walking off mid-set, Smith blames the crowd's acrimonious state on CoKate Moss's harmonizing partner. Here's Dan's rant, from the Noisettes' MySpace blog:

I'd just like to say, Pete, what the fuck were you doing coming out onstage while we were setting up to play? Are you really that much of an egomaniac or did you want to actually sabbotage our show? After that point the donkeys had gotten a taste of the carrot- They weren't going to tolerate any other band getting up to play. They'd seen their Messiah walking across the fucking stage. But had Shingai not gotten seriously injured like that, we would have kept going whether people were booing or throwing shit. I personally was getting OFF on the negative reaction from so many fuckheads.
But before a war of words could commence, it would seem a publicist advised Dan to temper his temper. Another blog post, twelve hours later:
I'm sorry- i don't mean any ill will to Pete and the rest of the babyshambles- I don't really know Pete and i'm sure he did'nt really mean any harm ... I just got really upset seeing my friend shing in such pain and i'm more angry with myself for just being useless in the face of all this- i kind of froze - did'nt know what to do- I also don't mean any bad feelings to Babyshambles fans - ahh fuck, it' s over - tommorow is another day
Guess we'll never get to hear Pete's side of it, so what do you think? Egoist? Show saboteur? Or drugged-up has been? (Yes, you may vote for all three.)

This is the same Dan Smith that will teach anyone guitar, right? Or was that John Mayer?

The Noisettes are actually a really decent band. Not exactly innovative, but decent bunch of musicians with fun songs and a very energetic live performance. But then again, it's not exactly news that you've got to be abit of a fucktard to like Babyshambles. If Pete Doherty were a racehorse, he'd have gone to the glue factory yeeeeeeeears ago...

Thank goodness Pete Doherty is British, so I don't have to think of him very often, and he'll be long forgotten in North America within a couple years. . .

Has anyone noticed the sudden change in grammar from post to post?

Strange.

this is all assuming pete doherty knows where he is at any given second, which i find sort of hard to believe.

The real question is: how can a never-was be a has-been?

You know maybe its because I am an America but it seems like Pete is famous for being Pete. KInda like Paris hilton or Nichole Richie-who is famous for what again being the not really daughter of Lionel RIchie??? Anyways Ive never even heard his bands music just that he has one.

On the other hand Ive heard The Noisettes and they rock. People should have given them a change and not gone crazy for someone they are going to hear in a bit anyway- the only thing I can think of is that they were just afraid Pete would get so fucked up he wouldnt be able to perform later.
