Justin Timberlake Vs. American Idol

JT tells Vanity Fair's Fashion Rocks supplement that Taylor Hicks is not the shit.

“People think he looks so normal, and he’s so sweet and he’s so earnest, but he can’t carry a tune in a bucket. ... If he has any skeletons whatsoever, if God forbid, he’s gay, and if all these people in Mississippi who voted for him are like [then he takes on a thick southern accent], ‘Oh my god, I voted for a queer!’ It’s just too much pressure.”
Really Justin? You're gonna take on SOUL PATROL? I think he should be focusing on that impending sexy copyright infringement lawsuit.

On August 28, JT will guest on a taping of the The Ellen DeGeneres Show season premiere. At 2 PM he'll perform some tunes from FutureSex/LoveSounds in Central Park and do a sure-to-be-hilarious-in-that-Ellen-way Q&A. I called yesterday (866-ELLEN-TIX) and successfully requested four tickets. They're free, but don't expect to see a goddamn thing unless you arrive at 6 AM.

Sounds like he's actually being more critical of the people that watch the show...

Oh my God! If you have an extra ticket, can I have one? I am not ashamed to say I love Mr. J Timberlake.

Why in the world is Justin picking on Taylor Hicks? Surely he doesn't feel threatened. Perhaps it shows that underneath all of the stylist magic, JT is like school in July - no class.

i didn't root for taylor while he was on the show, but i do think justin is out of line here. but then again, at least he didn't make any gray hair jokes, heh?

i bet he'd take this back and apologize in less than a week's time.

Sounds more like he's being critical of people from Mississippi. Let the bonfires begin. Oh yeah people from Mississippi probably don't have any *NSYNC records to burn (that's not being critical, that's a compliment).

What the eff ever, people. He's exactly right about Taylor Hicks. The guy's got nothing special or really interesting about him...I'm with Sylvia on this one.

And how exactly does Justin's album title have anything to do with this? Titles are hardly important at all...it's the actual content of the music. Which, sure, maybe y'all are too hip to like, but I loved 'Justified', and I'm very excited about this new effort.

What a weird comment. Let's see, Lance Bass is from MS and Lance Bass is gay...are we sure he didn't just get Lance and Taylor mixed up?
I'm starting to hate this guy (and his girlfriend) again.

Wow, this was so far almost everyone's head. He wasn't really criticizing him... he was criticizing how people celebrate the guy's normalcy. That's like, his appealing factor. And he was also making a comment on how fucked up it is that if Lance Bass said he was gay, he would never have made it with *NSYNC, let alone American Idol. He was putting on a fake southern drawl to represent the ignorance in America. That UNnormal things like homosexuality are demonized, while very normal things like... well, everything about Taylor Hicks is praised.

Ah, I see now...JT's southern drawl represents America's ignorance. JT and his socio-political commentary, it's like trying to figure out Finnegan's Wake sometimes.

Justin - Do you really want to take on the Soul Patrol? As an Artist, do you really want to make an enemy of the best new, unique, soulful Performer to hit the music scene in a very long time? Taylor Hicks has a realness that you will never understand! His voice awkens my soul! His moves on stage excite me! And yes, I am one of the orginal Soul Patrol Members, and I say this with all the pride I can muster. Go back to the Mickey Mouse Club...you belong with the kids! Oh and I bet Lance is very proud of your "anti-gay" remarks...you ass!

for one artist (and in jt's case i am using the term very loosely) to talk negatively in public about another artist is very low class...and indicates to me that jt has confidence issues. when one tries to bring another down, it is a feeble attempt to bring yourself up...in this case it didnt work. i disagree with the post about album titles meaning nothing...if the album title is too freaky to remember...who's gonna buy it? my best wishes to jt...he's gonna need it after that comment. lets talk fan base...th's fan base ranges from young kids, to senior citizens. jt's fan base? 12 year olds, and those who think and act like 12 year olds. 'nuff said.

JT - dude, remember one thing - your audience consists of over hormonal 13 YEAR OLDS. Obviously it's hard for you to relate to a mature audience who knows what they like in music, and it certainly is not you. Stick to what you know - banging Britney look alikes, riding yer girl Cameron's coat tails (cuz her career is so much further along than yours ever will be), and taking off your shirt to sell albums.

Sometimes the best sex appeal is leaving the clothing on - right ladies?

Hicks in 2006 - Soul Patrol forever.
