Winehouse Has Emphysema Amy's father revealed that she's been diagnosed with the lung condition and will die if she doesn't stop smoking cigarettes and crack cocaine. Amy has 70% lung capacity now, while Doug Benson registered 89% at the end of Super High Me. So yes we can probably all agree this is much more serious. Reuters has more.

yeah, really. both, help and wellness. no matter how much anybody might dislike her or her music, it would be great if she got healthy.

haha, no, I'm actually very liberal (Obama in '08!). But when you smoke cigarettes AND crack cocaine, what do you expect to happen? Do you expect to be stronger and smarter and healthier? If she cared about herself she'd stop being so stupid and drop the habits. I personally hate her music but she SHOULD have a long and prolific career ahead of her, and if she's willing to keep smoking these things then she is really really REALLY stupid.

If addiction is genetic, she has to fight herself to quit.

Saudi Arabia has already boosted its production by 300,000 barrels a day, or about 3 percent, to 9.45 million barrels a day last month. But that has had little impact on soaring prices. Oil futures in New York have gained more than 40 percent this year. They rose 2 percent to $134.62 a barrel before the meeting on Friday.

very interesting: Will the market implode or rally??

Can you really feel that bad for her? I mean come on she smokes crack, she's old enough to know the risks and she has an amazing opportunity to improve her life that she isn't taking advantage of. I personally don't care anymore.

It's dumb to start, but it's not a matter of stupidity when it comes to quiting drugs. It's very difficult to stop a drug habit.

She shouldn't have started in the first place. It seems like she only does it so her music will seem more "authentic" (of course this is simply an outside perspective). I don't see how someone can get addicted to drugs, to be honest. Just seems so foolish to me.

UPDATE: She has a "small amount of emphysema"
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1589794/20080623/winehouse_amy.jhtml
so she can continue to smoke a small amount of crack

I just wonder how it goes when someone who depends on their lungs, singing for a living, develops emphysema. Seems like it will make her old before her time. I don't see too many energetic dancy tours in her future. Emphysema is non-reversible, right?

What a waste.
