Give it a few more listens… I had the same impressions at the start and was missing the simplicity of ‘Year in Hibernation’.
After a I listened to it a second time (and with headphones) I saw what they were getting at the progressions they are making.
Although nothing on this album lives up to ‘Cannons’
Considering In Rainbows is basically flawless… no album will touch it’s heights.
On ‘Before Your Very Eyes…’ around the 3:30 mark is one of the most fantastic things I’ve heard in a while.
What a fantastic album! Aside from ‘Before Your Very Eyes…’ the bass doesn’t sound very ‘Flea’ like though… this could be a Radiohead release.
It’s a good song no doubt, but I was hoping for some progression.
Really loving this song and the direction Blake has gone since ‘The Bells Sketch’. I don’t think he’s released anything subpar and that Trimbal song Confidence Boost was pretty amazing too. Can’t wait for this album.
