i want to go to there.
Amazing video paired with a pretty good song.
His description of the song was a little emo, and serves as a pretty good example of why an artist should never explain their work. BUT OUTSIDE OF THAT, this rules.
If this is a B-side or a fake (or possibly a remix?), then that’s totally fine.
But if this is a song from an upcoming album, then blech. Because this basically has the exact same sound motif as ?, and it would indicate that Justice has nowhere else to venture.
Love this band. Love this song. Love that EP. This video…. eh.
I am just going to look at this list as “50 good albums from 2009 presented in no discernible order!” because otherwise i will only get upset.
Just…. why does there need to be an entire regular thing for metal? I don’t get it. You don’t do that for electro or country or folk or WHATEVER. It just doesn’t make any sense, is all.
I don’t know if the music was the problem i had with Our Love to Admire. Although it was a step backward. I was mostly disappointed with the lyrics. So so so disappointed.
If there is one thing we can take from all this, it’s that Harry Patch was not and will never be considered cool.
Lesson learned.
“My biggest problem,” she says tearfully, “is that I’m Courtney Love.”
Word.
man what a lazy remix. that is just a looped beat over the regular song. this is 2009. not like electric circus on muchmusic.
Insightful commentary! You really lent something to the discussion today! Have fun at dinner!
Don’t get me wrong. I like listening to Kanye. I’m just saying,
sampling music like whoa! and having witty (read: not poetic. just humorous.) lyrics only makes you a really good rapper with catchy hooks. it does not make you a genius. He is not exactly reinventing a genre.
(also error on my previous comment. i meant to clarify that arcade fire belongs on the list but i just wouldn’t place them as high as pitchfork chose to. [not that i expected them to do otherwise of course given the perfect 10 it recieved])
Spoon, Sufjan Stevens, Kanye West, and Arcade Fire have no place on that list. But otherwise it’s pretty good.
(I also strongly dislike LCD Soundsystem and “Sound of Silver” but i’m willing to concede that it’s everyone’s favorite album or something)
@DavidLynch ur caps r on, btw
I have been pretty indifferent to the Vampire Weekend phenomenon (re: i don’t like or dislike them).
But that viral marketing definitely nudged me a bit into the “dislike” camp.
so uh.. what is it with the metal tracks on stereogum as of late? Aren’t we all supposed to be hipsters here?
Fine now! Thanks, guy!
So is that mp3 SUPPOSED to be 30 seconds?
Awesome song. Great video. A++++++++++
so excited!
Um… so this is basically the greatest idea ever.
Seriously, if i was the kind of guy who was on the fence about buying HEALTH’s album or illegally downloading it, this would be enough to push me over.
It’s too bad i don’t want to do either. Sorry HEALTH. Great idea though.
This was pretty brutal. Although i think it could have been passable if they just changed the vocalist. Sounds like a dude imitating Stephen Merritt on youtube or something.
I am only a lukewarm fan of Bat For Lashes, but i’ll be damned if she doesn’t have the best music videos in the game right now.
woof

“I get world sick everytime i take a stand”
Sounds a little preachy to me. But they have a good enough track record, that i’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
