PiL, lol.
and to be honest I prefered Extraordinary Machine to Idler Wheel… now someone explain why Alt- J album is bad??
Agreed, loved Swing Lo Magellan, great live as well. Anyone hating on it cause it’s a bit more straight-forward and poppy than the abstract arrangements of Bitte Orca can fuck off. I hate people comparing bands’ albums on a scale of how much better or worse it was to their last effort. I completely agree, take Foals’ Total Life Forever – an amazing album that Pitchfork wouldn’t bat an eyelid at. Most people who go on these websites don’t have their own opinions and look to subjective musical opinions as testament to an objective truth. Form your own opinions, I liked the Idler wheel is something something long pretentious title a lot, but in no way is it one of the 10 best albums of the year. Shields is probably my favourite this year though.
Can someone explain to me properly what is so bad about the alt-j album? I actually enjoyed it; interesting rhythms, melodies and in my opinion ‘different’ in a good way. Same goes for the Maccabees. I can understand shitting on Jake Bugg and Lana Del Rey for being one-dimensional trite, but those two other bands seem to be caught in the crux of ‘hipster’ abjection just cause Pitchfork don’t like them.
what a horrible name for a list.
Foals are quality
