I think you may have misunderstood the whole ‘tragedy+time=comedy’ formula here dude.
If that’s true are we allowed to start making ‘City With No Children’ jokes?
I’d put The Woods over Dig Me Out, but otherwise I completely agree with this list (for like the first time ever)
Anyone who thinks the Knife isn’t worth coming out of retirement for is wrong.
Still loading in the UK
By its very nature a song like this should NOT make me happy.
But it’s just been so long since I was freaked out by a new Knife song, I just can’t help myself.
I’m too much of a fangirl to be able to give a well reasoned judgement on the album right now. I may be back when I’ve calmed myself down.
just to clarify, I do love Beck. I just dislike this list with every fiber of my being.
no thanks
Another mention. The weight of my sterogum comment section fame has become too great, I’m going into seclusion. I’ll start working on my next comment in five years and you can all see it in seven.
Wow, turns out that Stereogum readers REALLY like Etsy. Who’d a thunk it?
That’s a lot of thumbs…
my bad, just say #28
Hey Dude, don’t feel bad, but I’m pretty sure it is only 3 – #11, #23 + #37
Not bragging or anything, but I was mentioned 3 times on this list. Fiona Apple was only mentioned twice. I consider this my greatest achievement of 2012.
I just wanna punch that screen cap…
I’m so excited I might need to be put into psychiatric care.
After that track ‘Glitch’ a few weeks ago I’m looking forward to the History of Apple Pie debute – probably a long shot what with the dismal hit rate of that kind of uk indie *insert genre here*-revival type band, but potentially could be a. decent record
Hopefully Mazzy Star, Joanna Newsom, Portishead and a few others will show their faces.
REALLY fucking stoked for the new MBV – either going to make my life or be the disappointment of the millenium. Either way, we should all start preparing ourselves for the inevitable shitstorm.
Loving the way the album that was ‘so good we can’t understand it yet’ is missing completely from the top 50
Arthur?
Can we just talk about the screen-capping that goes on at Stereogum… is it intentional or what?
‘Anyone want to tell me what a Jake Bugg is?’
My Granma has his album; I have not investigated farther.
Not that I ever cared about NME’s opinion, but not having Fiona Apple anywhere on the list just voids it even more.
They really seem to have it out for her this year though, anyone else remember when they published a picture of Alanis Morissette next to an article about her?
I do think there would be a similar white male breakdown, but as we learned in the comment sections of the Thomas Gabel transitioning to Laura Jane Grace articles, there’s an awful lot of us gays here. That might kinda even out the accuracy of the “Indie Hottie” (male) category a little. (Although I’m just in crazy-stalker-love with Justin Vernon so I feel like my vote is too biased to be counted, if I’m honest :P)

The fact that there are 6 X’s on the front and 6 numbers on the record is probably no coincidence
——/——/——/936557/——/——
It’s only going to be solvable once we have a sequence of 36 numbers
Hopefully it’ll be leading to a new BoC album though; if the countdown thing mentioned on Consequence of Sound is right then we’ve only got 259 days to wait!
