It’s predictable, but not a bad list all things considered. For anyone who wants a little change of pace, here’s a list of some of the best unheralded Christmas songs, for the last few days before the Eve.

Getting in the festivus-spirit early with an airing of music-related grievances for 2012.

Love her, only just recently discovered how cool her sound is, after being encouraged to do so by reading this article: http://ahorizontalmyth.wordpress.com/2012/12/05/divergent-souls-solange-cody-chesnutt/
The Kendrick Lamar love is very spiriting — though I probably would have gone with one of the other songs on the album. I was only just recently encouraged to check him out by reading this article about his unorthodox treatment of masculinity compared to what you expect in hip-hop.
Very interesting read: http://ahorizontalmyth.wordpress.com/2012/12/10/the-man-and-the-m-a-a-d-city-deconstructing-masculinity-with-kendrick-lamar/
Man, these guys were so good. This article really brought back those memories, and does a good job of getting into where exactly it went so wrong for them.

What a year he’s having. Overall I thought the nominees were fairly decent (taking into account, at least, that these are the Grammys and thereby obligated to suck). One omission IMO was the new Solange. Just read this article the other day that convinced me to check it out, and it’s great.

So glad ChesnuTT made the cut. This article on his new album is great:

For all the artists who had albums I anticipated this year, very few really hit the mark for me. It was a good year for discovering random new artists that I had heard of but never listened to.
In particular, this article convinced me to check out the new Solange album, which I wouldn’t have otherwise. Good read:

The new Solange and Cody ChesnuTT were two that weren’t even on my radar until I read this interesting article comparing the two. Great albums, and a great read for anyone interested: http://ahorizontalmyth.wordpress.com/2012/12/05/divergent-souls-solange-cody-chesnutt/

Nice list. The two that jump out as missing are the new Solange and Cody ChesnuTT albums. Been loving both since I took the recommendation of this article, that does a good job of comparing the two. http://ahorizontalmyth.wordpress.com/2012/12/05/divergent-souls-solange-cody-chesnutt/
