Then again, I’m a fan of dippy lyrics delivered sincerely.
Nothing epic here. It’s short and snappy, and I kind of like it.
Wall-E is pissed.
Isn’t this a little like ranking mountains that God made from worst to best?
Pretty sure Elverum has a cup of burr-ground organic single-source coffee. This is the Northwest.
Here, have some nuance.

Who would downvote this?
That said, the Four Tet remix is a big improvement.
I’ve been trying really hard to like this. I like Neneh Cherry. I love free jazz. I listened to the full album stream on NPR and it just made me itch a lot.
I’m nominating this comment thread for Da Capo Best Music Writing 2012.
My enthusiasm for your comment diminished in direct proportion to how far I read.
This album is a very, very good example of what it is. I’m already hearing totally different things on the second listen. And I wouldn’t have given it a chance had it not been featured here.
Stereogum, whether or not it’s violating an unspoken and surely obsolete indie mandate, displays consistently reliable taste, and that’s why I read it. I haven’t been able to say the same about Pitchfork for a couple of years now.

Uprating this for your last sentence.
Daniel Rossen? Too short?
Though I appreciated and enjoyed your comment (and wrote my American Studies Masters thesis on dub reggae), I think the author was expressing a preference, not dismissing an aesthetic. In any case, I have felt much the same way and I’m convinced I need to turn around on that before it’s too late.
Due to his dispute with Warner Bros. and/or possibly his disdain for revisiting past work, none of his albums have been remastered, ever.

We’re slowly moving our way South and East. No complaints here.
