I don’t know about platinum, Kurt, but it’s a mighty fine song. Look forward to the record.

Clearly they are still relevant because: nudity.

Rubber Soul, because choosing a later one is just too hard, and this one speaks of the immense potential just starting to bubble to the surface.

And he does it with a capo.

I was going to quote that, too. I remember similar sentiments being expressed about King of Limbs. I’ve given that record time, and more listens and I’m still not getting or enjoying it. That type of thinking ["we don't understand ityet"] sounds like a copout, however since this new AC is just being released, I grant that it may benefit from time and repeated listens. To quote Mr. Burns, I know what I hate, and I don’t hate it. cheers.

God damn. As much as I’ve know it for years, they almost never fail to surprise me as to just how good they are live. “Art of Almost” destroyed.

Pet Sounds, if I have to pick just one.

Ddogunit, you don’t have to like it. People can like what they like, and not care what other people think. I think that is the point being made here. cheers.

I am not embarrassed about my love for the Reminder. That is a truly wonderful record. Who the fuck cares that other people also liked it? I learned to get over that shit 20 years ago when everyone started liking other records that I liked “first,” i.e. Nevermind, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Ten, etc. Come on Stereogum; you can grow up too. If “same people who liked The Reminder will probably like this one” then I am looking forward it. cheers.

I have not thought all that much about recent Beastie Boys releases, but am always curious to check them out (used to ride freestyle bike ramp to Licensed to Ill in the 80s and been listening ever since). If anyone is a skeptic like me, give this one a try. I couldn’t believe “my freakin ears.” The beats, the sounds, the rapping, it was not only cool, but fun and enjoyable and fresh! That is the key. It sounded new again. Congrats fellas. Nice to have you back.

From the reading/videos to which I’ve been exposed, I’m quite willing to agree with his 911 comments. I mean, we have a long history of creating reasons (or allowing things to happen) to go to war for financial gain. But of course it’s sad to hear about his out-of-controlish drug use. Hopefully people won’t equate anything that comes out of his mouth these days as paranoid or ridiculous, because his 911 comments are neither.
