I expect this will be everyone’s favorite National album in a couple years. The more you listen the more the songs open up.
I know it was on Atlantic, but I’m voting Plans.
I should also say that I love the minimalism of Paper Tiger and Vittorio E. Spoon have never done “stripped-down” better.
Fantastic album. I can see why some consider it their defining album. It is definitely a mission statement of sorts. My favorite is probably “Girls Can Tell” though.
Coffee and TV, easily.
Nice cover. Would have been great to hear Dobson on backing vocals as well.
Excellent. This could easily surpass Fantasies (which I loved) after a few more spins. The closing track, Nothing But Time, is a knockout.
Yawn? Listen to the sound they’re making!
She’s purty.
Great fucking setlist. The best yet. Hope it’s this good in San Jose.
I hope they play Pyramid Song in San Jose.
Wow, I didn’t realize that was the woman from Deep Sea Diver. I saw them open for Spoon a few years ago and was really impressed. I downloaded their EP and even saw them a second time at Spaceland (as headliners). I will definitely check out the new album. Thanks for the heads up!
Awesome. Can’t wait to check out the whole thing.
Because it will be the B-side to the 7″ single being released for Record Store Day (as explained in the write-up above).
Talk about a one-two punch. Can’t wait for March 20.
Pet Sounds.
Love is Hell. Or Pneumonia if Whiskeytown is allowed.

No video of SHA?
Another vote for “Watching The Wheels.”
Cool.
Love this band. I saw them at Merge XX last summer and they left quite an impression. Can’t wait to pick this up!
As good as this was, I agree that the new album will be hard-pressed to surpass the last one in terms of overall quality. “Boxer” is as close to a perfect record as you can get.
Well, that was great. May is going to be a good month for music.

Yeah, it’s streaming on iTunes. You just need to go to the artist’s page. Not the page for the album itself.
