Not a fan of Pitchfork, but this is not a bad list. They Put Destroyer at number 2 for the year which I have to agree with, where a lot of other lists ignored it alltogether. Good for Pitchfork on that one. Also having Fleet Foxes, St. Vincent, James Blake & Tune-yards in the top 15 is great.

People do realize The Vaccines put out their debut album this year, right? It seems like no one knows this. It was a fantastic album.

Yea, this list is much better than the stereogums album list. Not how I would do it, I think Battles – Ice Cream needs to be on here somewhere, as well as 1 or 2 others, but not bad.

No Los Angeles date, but in Oakland April 13th, and Arizona April 20th? Looks like someone is a lock for Coachella.

Its interesting how every list seems to ignore Destroyer, yet every comment section cries out for the lack of Destroyer. a Music blog reader / writer disconnect it seems. I agree that it was one of the best albums of the year, in my top 3 for sure.

yes, becuase Girls at #1 is in no way Pitchfork-esque. hahaha.

Good point. Hello Sadness is fantastic.

Drake??? with St. Vincent at 32 and Tune-yards are 46? What kind of music blog do I think I’ve been reading?

True, Sound Kapital was great. And, I am a Decemberists fan, have been for years, but was I the only one really not digging this newest album? These listers seem to love it.

No Beirut? Come on Uncut… wait… what the hell is uncut?

 +3Posted on Nov 29th, 2011 | re: Paste's Top 50 Albums Of 2011 (148 comments)

I quite liked Dale Earnhardt Jr Jrs album. But they were one of those bands that got in the music hipster crosshairs as the year went on and for no good reason people really went after them. They are my #6 album of the year as well, though 1-5 are much different. I also include Destroyer as my second favorite of the year. How can you ignore Destroyer. come on.

 +2Posted on Sep 13th, 2011 | re: Stereogum's 40 Best New Bands of 2011 (138 comments)

So I take it you are not counting The Vaccines as a 2011 Artist, despite their debut album this year? because if you do they have to be on this list.. Otherwise it is a critical error.

Sitting.

 +4Posted on Jul 5th, 2011 | re: NME's 100 Greatest Music Videos (60 comments)

Also, where are…

Jamiriqui – Virtual Insanity
Fatboy Slim – Weapon of choice (Should be in the top 5, not in their top 100)
Chemical Brothers – Let Forever Be
Peter Gabriel – Sledgehammer
OK Go – Here It Goes Again
Like 5 talking heads videos

I could go on for an hour with names.

 +2Posted on Jul 5th, 2011 | re: NME's 100 Greatest Music Videos (60 comments)

This list is a joke on so many levels. “17 Lady Gaga (Feat. Beyonce) – “Telephone””… This is a joke? Like, all time music videos this is 17? yet These three (71 Eminem – “My Name Is” — 70 Queen – “Bohemian Rhapsody” — 69 Outkast – “B.O.B.” ) which are classic music videos are that low?

Its amazing to listen to an album once and almost instantly acknowledge that this will be the best album of the year… What an Album.

Wow, this is the best Coldplay song I’ve heard in a good while. actually reminds me more of Parachutes.

Yea, The Spin list seems more accurate than Stereogums list. What has the world come to.

+6Posted on Jun 16th, 2011 | re: Indie Songs Of The Summer 2001-2011 (151 comments)

LCD Soundsystem – “Drunk Girls”? That was the big song of last summer? I think not. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it, but it had no where near the widespread play and recognition of any of the other songs on that list. I would think it would be something like The Arcade Fire – The Suburbs, which was All over the place. That single came out in May of last year and took off.

And then this year, your song choices all seem wrong. I don’t know anyone who is kind of out of the musical loop talking about these songs, much like people did with Lisztomania, Electric Feel, Crazy or D.A.N.C.E… I think the song of the summer would probably be either “Tune-yards – Bizness”, which is taking off huge now and has the makings of a big fun summer song, “The Vaccines – All In White”, or Maybe even “Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand”. I know Duck Sauce has been huge with that song for like 6+ months now, but it is still going strong and has that perfect summer vibe, much like D.A.N.C.E

Haha, well said. I was reading this review thinking, this is way too positive (despite the oddly worded first paragraph) for stereogum. Seeing as how they lashed out at the “mainstream, over-hyped” arcade fire in that joke of a double take, I’m sure someone will come back with their thick rimmed glasses and explain why this album actually is garbage. I started reading stereogum because it wasn’t pitchfork, but have pretty much stopped because they are trying to hard to become that.

haha, I dig me some radiohead, i don’t think they have made a bad album. I just get tired of the fervent obsessive screaming from radio heads that we saw when In Rainbows came out, every week just radiohead, radiohead, radiohead. I think if those fans, regardless of bands, are so annoying. Get it with Animal collective also… I will be looking forward to this album the day it comes out, and expect great things.

Yea, Wolf Parade? They just came out and said they are taking time apart. I’d be shocked if we didn’t see another Wolf Parade Album in the next 5 years. Didn’t expect that on the list.
