Abbey Road! It raised the progressive pop bar that Sgt. Pepper previously had set.
Oops, forgot Document. I’d probably put it between New Adventures and Out Of Time. Great album, but I honestly don’t listen it to it much for some stupid reason.
I don’t agree with the anti-pop slant of this list. “Stand” and “Shiny Happy People” are great songs! They’re SUPPOSED to be dumb pop songs! Also, Up is an extremely underrated album. Not their best, but nowhere near their worst. I think it’s better than Monster.
My list would go something like:
1. Automatic
2. Green
3. Lifes Rich Pageant
4. Fables
5. Reckoning
6. Murmur
7. New Adventures
8. Out Of Time
9. Up
10. Monster
11. Reveal
12. Accelerate
13. Collapse
14. Around The Sun
It’s actually just called “Over the Rainbow.” Kind of like “Land Down Under” vs. the proper “Down Under.”
What’s with Brian Wilson not singing lead on “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”? I know Al Jardine took over lead on that song in Brian’s absence and he sounds great…but Brian is right there!
So what’s the difference between disc 1 and disc 2? Wouldn’t “remastered from original tape” imply that it is remastered from the original 1/2-inch analogue tapes? Mixing to 1/2 inch tape was (and still is, if you’re doing it old-style) the standard for mixing records. Do they maybe mean REMIXED from the original multi-track tapes? Any one know?
a 13-year-old has no business making a song this good; i don’t care who his dad is!
I love the Ramomes.
Storm Front! It was my main jam when I was little. Still love it.
