That Quakers album is the shit!
I could also swing the other direction and couldn’t seem to find Torche’s Harmonicraft on many year-end lists.
Tried to get into them but sometimes the vocals sound too Dave Matthews for my taste.
I’ll always remember a really interesting girl I used to hang out with that introduced me to Spoon. This was the particular album and I was instantly hooked. I wonder what she’s up to these days?
Combat Rock will always hold a special place in my music-listening heart. It encapsulated what I felt was the absurdity of what the country was going through post-9/11.
I Found A Reason is also one of her best. Short, simple, full of meaning.
Thanks for the tip, sir. Deafheaven has been stuck in my iPod for a while now. Loves me the new generation metal that’s been cross-pollinating with shoegaze.
I’d also like to pimp Taken By Cars who’ll be playing at The Loft on Thursday night.
Agreed. I became a fan after a casual visit to Easy Street Records in Seattle. They happened to be playing an in-store and was impressed with what I heard.

Those Portland duos need mo love!
Baroness might be up to something for 2012 as well.
The JagStang was exactly what I thought as well. I was thinking Fender was going to reissue them.

One Touch sticks out as a personal favorite for some reason.
