hmmm… this is awesome. i had no idea what to expect and wasn’t disappointed. its nice that despite Animal Collective inhabiting more of an indie pop space recently that they can still create creatures like this.

kanye west is garbage. the fact that anyone would ever mention him and quincy jones in the same sentence is a testament to the terrible condition of popular music in this country.
what exactly is pretentious about anything from merriweather? seriously? I’ve had the pleasure of meeting these dudes a few times and every time I’ve talked to them they’ve been extremely down to earth and accepting people. i don’t get where this whole pretentious thing comes from and I never will. is it because they have a distinct musical aesthetic, because they make interesting pop music AND interesting art, AND have the decency to not be pompous dickheads about it? if those things make someone pretentious than count me in.
