Not true. I’m a massive Prince fan and this is the closest he’s come in a few years. Its definitely better than anything off his last two albums, though I doubt many people outside of Target shoppers and his die hard fanbase heard either of those.
It sounds better each time I hear it, and I love how black it is. Now if only we can get an album with this lineup. Andy Allo is seriously growing on me.
Actually, he kind of looks like Van Morrison.
Other than the spoken word parts, I really like this. MM might be trying new things again, which is where he seems to come up with his best music. His last album was shit, but I’m convinced he has at least one great album left in him. He will rise like a phoenix from the flame.
It couldn’t have fit on one, but it didn’t have to be three.
Remember when Progress Reports were about albums we had barely heard about yet?
Fuck not being ready, I’ve been waiting for this since Pitchfork first started wanking on about White Blood Cells.
Sign O’ The Times is sixteen seconds shy of eighty minutes. The technology of the time could not fit that much music on a single CD. It was also released at the tail end of the vinyl era so there really is no comparison.
People releasing music on two discs when it could fit on one is a fucking joke in this day and age, especially considering the majority of us are going to listen to it digitally anyways. I’m fucking tired of of these annoying publicity stunts. Joanna Newsom, I’m looking at you.

This is the Phosphorescent album you choose? Not the far superior Aw Come Aw Wry? About half of the album is really good, but it still pales in comparison to every other thing Huock has done, except possibly To Willie.
