RyGuy – yeah I feel the same way. It would be very hard for them to match Van Occupanther, so my hope is that they just don’t shit the bed like so many bands do after a great release.
Also, FM’s official site has a 2nd track for download – “Each Time is a New Time”.
Very nice indeed!!!
Not bad, puts me in mind of Yield. That’s a good thing, by the way.
OK, so I’m not the only one who was let down by Crack the Skye. And yeah, this performance was flat and dull.
Great song, really cool video. I have high hopes for this album.
OK, the math is that there are a lot of mouth breathers who like buying the same album over and over again – thus Nickleback.
St. Vincent + part of Midlake = potentially awesome
Wrong on many counts.
Agreed. I liked the track and look forward to a rebound from The Understanding, which was a letdown.
Amen to that. Their next is easily my most anticipated album of ’09 (hopefully).
I appreciate that they don’t want to just rehash Van Occupanther, but waiting too long could kill any momentum they had built up. In any case, I look forward to hearing the new album.
Spend a lot of time lurking in Atlanta alleyways do you?
It’s only one listen, but I like it. Similar to the last album but it shows some growth as well. Finally, a sophomore album from a hyped indie group that isn’t a total blue balls.
C’mon, Era Vulgaris had a pretty good cover.
That was actually kinda funny.
Am I missing something, or does a Stereogum editor need to be fired?
Listened to it today – it’s not a classic but it’s actually pretty good, especially the first half. All you old-school fans need to just accept that you’re never going to hear Ride the Lightning II and move on.
Yay, another cover album. Just what the music buying public needs.
Holy crap I would love to see this show. What a great, great album.
I haven’t seen any video of the song being used by McCain, but unless it was a very short clip it definitely doesn’t fall under Fair Use guidelines.
First 3 minutes or so – nothing special. The last half was surprisingly strong. There may be hope yet…
Rob Halford tried the same thing when he left the Priest, then got wise.
Uh oh, looks like the angry GnR longhairs are out in force!

Sounds good to me. Hopefully there’s more dynamic songs too, but I like these for starters.
