When I first heard this album, I thought “this is the kind of music I’ve been waiting for, for so long” after years of late nineties radio rock. It was a real breath of fresh air. One of my favourites of all time.

this is one of the funniest things I’ve seen here in a while.

+5Posted on Aug 8th, 2012 | re: New Beck Album Song Reader Only Available As Sheet Music (150 comments)

Can’t we just look at this as ‘Beck is releasing some sheet music for original tunes!’ instead of ‘Becks new album is only on sheet music’ kind of a big difference no? most of the people upset by this seem to be thinking that if Beck writes music, it has to be performed and recorded.

I think this is a great idea. I was just listening to a podcast today, they were talking about how the definitive recorded song is a relatively new thing, until very recently there was no definitive version. I love the idea that the version you perform or record yourself is just as valid as anyone else’s.

Tabs, that’s what I’m hoping for. I’m willing, and even excited, to put some effort into learning some of these songs, but not that much effort.

I’m not hearing the “very interpol-sounding” either. which in this case, is probably a good thing.

I imagine most bosses are not interested in the “it’s art” defense.

Wasn’t expecting to hear the name Snowden again. This is a pleasant surprise!

It’s obviously been a while since I’ve done any meaningful art analysis.

Twin Shadow – 5 Seconds !
it’s summer pop perfection.

I’ll agree, sometimes that 90′s nostalgia can seem a bit forced and weird.

That being said, I like the song!

I kinda hate that album art, I’m sorry. mostly just because it’s not really committing to one idea or the other, is it exaggerating facial features? kinda, but then you got those weird bumps on Annie’s face. Why isn’t David Byrne’s face like that? i mean he’s got the dimple chin, but that’s not the same, he doesn’t look like half-baked star trek character. I dunno, it just rubs me the wrong way.

and I don’t understand how anyone who appreciates popular modern music can call what radiohead does as ‘…garbage they call music’. I mean it’s one thing if it’s not your style, but aren’t you being a little disingenuous?

wow, you don’t even give them the satisfaction of being a hipster, but a ‘hipster wannabe’.

‘relevant’ the way it’s used these days. sorry for the outburst.

I always get the feeling that Fiona Apple just needs a nice day at the spa, and some sunshine. You know, some time away from her dark room filled with second hand smoke and a half empty dirty bathtub where she spends most of her time adapting night vision.

Is it just me, or does the nineties look kinda work for Dave Longstreth?

I soon recognized it when I found it, and still agree it’s an odd choice.

seriously. I consider myself a YYY’s fan, but I can’t remember which song ‘Bang’ is off the top of my head.
