Jesus died for Kanye. Poor Jesus.
man, me too. cheers to you good sir.
i could live in San Francisco, but never LA. What’s so great about it? It’s home to TMZ, Tom Cruise, and American Idol. Talk about shit hole.
and a genius.
Why boo? Brian Wilson is a legend.
Beach Boys – Frightened and confused. Maybe Stereogum should write the next “Smile” or “Pet Sounds” then.
okay, that was funny. cheers, donnytilla.
okay, fair enough. why are letterman jackets now “fashionable” again? i think their 90′s gimmick is so cliche.
i don’t like this new album. i think they’re a fad and are fading out. also, why are they bringing back 90′s fashions? is that supposed to be ironic? jean and letterman jackets? those weren’t fashionable in the 80′s and 90′s, why revisit that?
agreed. and he STILL looks sexy in a pair of jeans!
311 should have stopped making “music” altogether in the late 90′s. And their fans need to be educated on what real music is. Still relevant?? Maybe if Kurt Loder was still reporting the news.
it’s not like Diplo has made significant strides in music either. washed out made a record of original material. Diplo has only remixed original material since, what, 2005? What’s so original about remixing other artists?? That’s so Kanye.
we do not owe this fucktard an explanation of why the beatles were great. if he doesn’t like the beatles, then he is a fucking idiot. he has no music credibility whatsoever. period. i hate this “i hate the beatles” demographic. it is so so small and insignificant and unimportant. they are fucking clueless about music.
How not to release a record: string your fans along for 4 years, and in the last 2, keep putting off and putting off a release date, and then release a song a month until the actual release day of the physical record, so fans will have absolutely nothing to look forward to. slow motion is the only saving grace i’ve heard so far, the only saving grace in 4 years.
If you don’t “get it” after 90 listens, then you’re an idiot.
Mine too.
Yeah! I was just going to say there was no love for Codex. Great piano and melody.
nice.
Yes, Double Take the hell out of this record, and this “artist” while we’re at it.
“People got out-of-hand in their praising of it”, especially when he over over over samples. This is the same, tired, Kanye formula. Use the music of other artists, and let it go to your head.
oh, and, George Bush doesn’t care about black people.
tired, too. tired and used.
Vampire Weekend: Still riding the coattails of Graceland-era Paul Simon.
I also, could not agree more. I wondered why everyone was so quick to throw this one up on their best of 2010 list. this review really could be summed up in a few words: boring, flat, emotionally immature, weirdly vacant, and overrated to boot. this one is hard to get through. 16 songs that trudge along, that don’t build, that don’t engage me at all.
more like 2004. good point samoven07. facebook is for tools.
Vampire Weekend is not a nod to graceland/saints era paul simon, it’s a complete rip off. overrated.

I loved Merriweather, but Honeycomb is so obnoxious. almost unlistenable. it’s busy in a bad way and there’s not a single good hook in it.
