Yeah, I probably am but I remember watching a news special comparing his “brand” (that hurt) and profitability to the likes of Elvis’s.

Damn son, I wasn’t supporting her reaping of Kurt’s posthumous revenue…just surprised she wasn’t on the list for that reason

Oh and why is Courtney Love not up there (assuming that she meets the criteria of the title ‘musician’)? Does she not get that Kurt/Nirvana money anymore? Or did I miss out on some litigated shit-show that took those rights away from her?

“The 25 Highest Paid Musicians of 2012″ or as I call it “The 25 Most Heavily Marketed Musicians”

Damn, damn, damn Dre,

You could at least slip in a decently witty product reference like “flow sharper than Gilette, etc…” in a verse on the album and avoid estranging lifelong fans that have put you on a musical pedestal that transcends “rapper”. Maybe Big Boi should get Converse to sponsor a song, then you’d be on board right? We still admire you greatly, it’s just getting frustrating

Sincerely yet lovingly,

Outkast Fans

But still a great list, Wowee Zowee definitely underrated. Kudos

Fuck the significance, I still think Slanted & Enchanted is the definitive and best executed Pavement album. It just breathed that “lazy yet surrounded by nuanced complexities” that became the staple of the band. “Summer Babe” comes straight out the gate and sets the context for the rest of the album, with “Here” being the only detour. Stephen’s distortion sounds so pleasantly messy and I think Pavement are at their strongest when Mark Ibold’s bass is as prominent as it is on this one. If “Frontwards” would’ve only been written for this album then it would be no-contest.

Wait, where the FUCK is Grizzly Bear? Oh…sorry, still emerged in the wonderment of that stream. Probably should stay away from lists

This works even better for the Black Keys this week

You sir, have possibly just invented a meme

Lil Wayne as President Carter? *Carter pronounced Cahhtah*

Regardless of the nonsense, I’d still vote LDR over Palin if it came down to it #LanaA$AP2020

Will someone please make a gif of Lana’s face starting at 7:08?

Add Poolside “Slow Down” to this and you’d have a playlist ideal for that Beach Boy’s calendar photo.

That sounded like a lot of haterade, apologies. Just stating that of recent the AOTW has been a lesser known album that S’gum wants to shed light on rather than re-praise a more talked about album (Fiona Apple, etc.), which I have no qualm with. With DIIV and this debuting, it’s shaping up to be a strong week of albums, so everyone really wins. Also R Kelly stepped out the closet to record something, and that’s never a bad thing.

I read they’re working on a new album but haven’t set any sort of time-table. Time has always been irrelevant to Boards

An “Album of the Week” that’s ACTUALLY album of the week, whad’dya know?

What did I just watch?

I’ll add my “Best Quote About 90s Rapper Never Returning to His Alter Ego”: “Yo I’m never returning to my ‘Ice Ice’ shit, fuck that. Unless Adam Sandler’s wife requests me for one of his films”- Vanilla Ice

Sorry they stole your sunshine. Or was that the joke?

+1Posted on Jun 22nd, 2012 | re: Vote For The Indie Song Of The Summer 2012 (102 comments)

Guys, its no coincidence why Purity Ring released “Fineshrine” on the day of the summer solstice. Put ‘em on that list.

 +6Posted on Jun 9th, 2012 | re: Frank Ocean - "Pyramids" (20 comments)

Frank Ocean is one of the few artists I admire that I hope gets alot of mainstream buzz. He’s exactly what popular R&B needs and has needed for a couple of years now. It might be hard to get spins with a 10 minute song (I”m sure a radio edit’s on the way), but I feel like he’s one of those musicians like Andre, that he’s so talented that whatever he does will appeal to a big audience.
