Young Galaxy are a Montreal band not Vancouver.. I know American understand of Canadian (or other any other country for that matter) geography is limited, but the cities are only 5000km apart or so. Some of the members may be from the west coast, but the band is Montreal based.
I was skeptical at first, but Under Cover of Darkness helped… this sounds tasty.
Please don’t call them the “new Beatles”. I hate the Beatles. Most overrated band of all-time. Sgt. Peppers is basically a turd, and White Album so over-bloated with filler.
Took a second listen to get it.. really innarestin’. Really dug a lot of PS I Love You’s debut album, not-so-hot on Diamond Rings, but together, sounds eerily like some fantastic long-lost song by The National! Nice change, really excited to hear those PSILY B-sides though!
Yeah what the hell is with that?.. The album is damn amazing. I still listen to it and the outtakes today, which means it’s got some life. There’s so many interweaving parts n’ melodies goin’ on there. It’s like Pauk’s Boutique, always something to catch ya.
Definitely most underrated album in recent memory. And damn this song sounds great and that cover is pretty slick too. I was cautious and skeptical, now I’m cautiously optimistic.
honestly I think is was a pretty terrible year for music, I’m just picking the best of what I’ve head. In reality I’m certain specific reissues (e.g. Dylan’s Witmark demo’s and mono issues of his first seven LPs) will definitely stand heads and tails above all the new stuff released.
Kinda scared by this blog devotion of folks (pitchfork, stereogum, brooklynvegan, etc etc.).. no one seems to think for themselves, listen for themselves or generate their own opinions anymore. What pitchfork says is the work of god. We’ve created a generation of music fanatics, and fanaticism sucks.
yeasayer – odd blood. most original and interesting album of the year, with loads o’ catchy songs. best coast, wavves, janelle monae, titus a., surfer blood….. all soooooooooooooooo boring. I can’t believe what this worlds coming too. I’m going to hide in a hole if this is what is considered good music nowadays. pap. no soul. no originality. thank god for big hitters like joanna newsom, big boi, and arcade fire, keeping something alive with youse blog folks.
because jam-bands made-up of boring toronto musicians without any original ideas simply don’t deserve to be there.
