Longtime fan, and I must say that I’m surprised by so much hate for Riot Act…after 9/11 and the Roskilde deaths, I found it to be their most emotionally charged album that really resonated with me. It was the perfect album for how I was feeling in 2002 and it’s actually my favorite PJ album out of their entire catalogue (guess that makes me an outlier). I was pleased and surprised to see No Code ranked so highly and Yield so low – I thought I was only one who preferred their textured experimental bent. The ‘poppier’ stuff never really appealed to me. I really haven’t cared for the last two albums at all.
My ranking:
Riot Act
No Code
Vitalogy
Ten
Vs.
Binaural
Yield
Pearl Jam
