BSS is best when they get the violins into the flow. Wonder if Jessica Moss is working with them again?

I’m only a fan of one BSS album. They are truely a great band though. Many can tell they put a lot of work into their albums. I wouldn’t have the sightest idea how to mix the sound of 4 guitars. It seeems to flow so easy for the band though.

Was there new material?

I wonder if this thread was around when The Postal Service came out with “Give Up” that we would have the same reaction. Maybe Stereogum would of put up New Postal Service album sure sounds like a Aphex Twin/Björk album. “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” uses a lot of familiar electro sounds that Aphex Twin used in his music in the 90s and very early portion of the last decade. Then the last 45 seconds of “District” is very (very) similiar to the last portions of Björk’s “Hyper-ballad” I

I’m willing to say that Ben Gibbard was influene by Aphex Twin and Björk. Every musicians has a musical source for their music. It is completely insane to think that “Give Up” was this great original piece of music when it was far from it.

That is when my summer opens up. This is going to be a good festival

A lot of the songs on Eyelid Movies have been for about 6 months of so. Phantograms put them all into a full length and are releasing it next Tuesday. They caught a lot of people’s eyes with their tours with School of Seven Bells and their CMJ set last fall.

While we talk about new albums, go to NPR.org and listen to Phantograms new album “Eyelid Movies”. Good addictive dance music

I’m wondering why Radiohead has made L.A. their second home. During the OK Computer days, I read about the band in and out of L.A.. 13 years later again I’m reading about Radiohead and L.A.

I just heard the new song Good Brothers Paving Company? (Is That the Title?) She is becoming more and more like Sufjan Stevens. This new triple album is going to have it gems, but it is also going to have some songs that you just can’t listen to.

Rae will probably get nominated for next year. His album came out in October and that is way too late for the Grammy committee to hear it. They are still catching up to music from 1997. Rae, Ghostface, Cappadonna, Black Keys, and Miley get put together for a performance next year. Miley is going to branch out this year. Expect her most innovated stuff to be on Pitchfork’s Best Of List this year. Taylor Swift got put on, why not Hannah M.

Vampire Weeekend will probably get nominated for best alternative album too. Or in other words “Solange’s favorite five albums of 2010 catagory”

Im not counting out Vampire Weekend and Miley getting together for next year.

What is with the #81 these days. Vampire Weekend’s “Diplomat’s Son” and now Joanna Newsom. Who wears the No. 81 on the Colts and Saints? I’m placing a bet on them to score the first TD in Super Bowl

0Posted on Jan 31st, 2010 | re: Grammys 2010: Out Of Touch, Out Of Time (94 comments)

This sucks… Dave Matthews fanbase is becoming more and more Vampire Weekend’s fanbase. They are truely becoming the most hated band

Next year Vampire Weekend and Christina Aguilara are going to duet Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al” Hopefully Chevy Chase is on stage with them.

Shame that Mos Def or Q-Tip didn’t win, but I bet they could care less. Someone wake me up when Herbie Hancock hits the stage

This isn’t anything special when we are speaking of Goldfrapp. It just didn’t click with me. Maybe I should put on some old Pointer Sisters records

I love it.

I’ve only heard Colouring of Pigeons, which was tremendous. NPR.org is running a full stream right now.
I guess this is something that has to be seen live to fully appreciate what The Knife as accomplished. Almost all their fans do not fall within the Opera crowd. It is different and adventurous. That what make The Knife great. They do not make what exactly what their fans want.

Haiti was the first Western Hemisphere territory to have a slave revolt that resulted in the slaves winning their freedom. Even though the slaves knew they would be very poor, the proud slaves realized that freedom was worth so much more that having a military superpower controlling them. This was a inspiration to America 60 years later to fight for the freedom of all and end the slavery in the US. Who knows if the French would of quelled the revolt of the Haitian slaves, who knows what would of happened in the 1860s.

Haiti is still one of the poorest countries in the western world. The country has been at its most desperate hour for a long time. The earthquake allowed many people to finally turn their eyes to see the basic needs that many Haitians need at this point.

Please watch this telecast and donate. This is a beaten, but a proud, historic country. Lets all stand up for Haiti

Pretty much since Kid A, many haven’t paid a dime for a Radiohead album. Since the Napster fallout, Radiohead offered a major album release free of charge if the person chose to.

Thanks for the clarification

 0Posted on Jan 22nd, 2010 | re: Radiohead For Haiti (30 comments)

How did I know you were going to be the first person who would post on this? Joking.

It is going to a good cause. I kind of wish the Haitian finiancial plight would of been noticed before the diaster, but that is society.

I saw the minimum bid is up to $225. A person can look at it two ways. One is that is too much money. The second is it is a good cause and I’m still saving money because Radiohead’s new albums are free of charge

 0Posted on Jan 21st, 2010 | re: Coachella 2010 Lineup: Jay-Z, Gorillaz, Pavement, Thom Yorke???? (75 comments)

Okay, first what are you going to do about it? You are on an internet chat threat and threating people. Are you 17? Get a grip and don’t try to compensate because you have a small penis or lacking something in your life.

Thom Yorke is not above music. He may be able to fiddle around with record companies, but putting one foot in the door for gigs isn’t cool. Give people full touring information.

Actually I think “In Rainbows” was on a i ndie label and debut at No. 1

Why? What is the point?

Neutral Milk Hotel “Aeroplane over the Sea”

Joking
