Purely rumor, but word around OKC is that Warner Bros. was not especially thrilled by “The Terror,” as it’s allegedly titled. So….who knows?

Most of that spoken-word intro could’ve come from a 14-year-old Twihard’s diary but damn if T-Swift isn’t a looker.

Also: Where the FUCK is “Cartoon & Cereal”?

Shitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. That was almo$t $o good a$ to make me never want to make fun of Joey Bada$$’$ name ever again.

Minor complaint that’s really more of a question: Is anybody else scratching their heads over why Schoolboy Q’s “Hands on the Wheel” is on all the year-end lists instead of “Blessed”? “Blessed” makes me want to cry and then ball up my fists and rage every time I hear it.

Funny story about Cloud Nothings: Saw them at SXSW this year (it was in a small room, they flayed their fucking instruments) and shortly afterward I was hanging around in the other part of the (pretty large) venue for Bob Mould. Dylan Baldi (CN’s singer) wandered over to watch for a while, right in front of me. It was sort of like I was in this weird mirrored time machine for a second.

Anybody else notice that Mumford & Sons (who are ENGLISH) are up for Best Americana Album?

Also, I kind of love the Best Alternative Music Album nominees this year! Fiona, M83, and Tom Waits. Tom Waits you guys!

I vote Beach House. Cloud Nothings slay.

Despite how boring “Cruel Summer” turns after “Mercy,” I can’t fault any publication for listing an album that featured R. Kelly shouting about Rick James’ couch.

I can however fault one for pushing fashion folk so hard.

Wow, thanks for this very well thought-out essay Chris!

I’d just add that I got to see Washed Out on tour a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of work Ernest’s put into his live show. Band sounded great and big and full in the small venue, like they could burst right out of it. I get the sense they’re in it for the long haul.

You got it. I’ll probably mix it up with the avatar from time to time though, as the Google image search results for “Gunplay rapper” are amazing.

Odds that Stereogum’s top 3 = Spin’s top 3 …?

Nitsuh’s terrific. Glad to see a heavy-hitting critic who isn’t afraid to say that Miguel’s album trumped the consensus favorite in Frank’s. Would really like to read a Nitsuh essay comparing/contrasting the two records.

I’ve sincerely enjoyed your stuff here Corban, especially that Drake interview. Best of luck in all your future endeavors, including with your new gig as Charlie Weis’s personal handler/feeder.
