Blackout from Heroes. Because it is awesome.

Then you must have gotten the british version of the single.

I believe the going big thing is a double edged sword, for one the band is making more money that they can use to make more great music, and more people are hearing their greatness.

On the other hand, all genres get their time in the sun eventually. And i think what most indie fans fear(I know I do) about their genre getting big is that more people who only want to make money will start basterdizing the genre for a hit. Like what happened in the early 90′s with alternative music, while some bands who truly deserved it got big, even more who didn’t got big by making a half-hearted version of it.

Does anyone else find it funny/sad that two of the contenders for album of the year are from last year.

Thing is I actually really liked “Pork and Beans” and the decomposed version was also great. But, this version is just……meh’. Maybe if this version had more flute it would be better, Weezer needs less Lil’ Wayne and more flutes.

Thanks for the link. Though i hope this is more campfire songs and less danse manatee. As thanks you get five points and a cookie.

That last comment is a reply to Tuddle, sorry for the mistake.

i see your logic and agree, I’m hoping that this will do the same for Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, and all the other bands who aren’t already famous on that album what Garden State did for the Shins. I find it fun to imagine the look on the face of a Twilight fan who is listening to the album without any preface to most of the bands on the soundtrack. A look of surprise that will either lead to loving these bands(fingers crossed), or hiding in the walk-in closet

Guitar Hero is just a game. It’s casual, the songs are not picked because of their historical importance or critical quality: their picked because their well known or just plain fun to play, this is so the game sell copies. This goes the same for the use of Mr.Cobain’s avatar, he is well-known and iconic, he is used in the same way that Hendrix and Cash are used, their famous and they help to emulate the feeling of being a rock star. We didn’t complain nearly as much when they were included, the only difference is that they don’t have Courtney making a big deal about it. Worse things have happened to a rock star’s image.

I believe golden slumbers was the missing number 19.

0Posted on Sep 4th, 2009 | re: EW Lists Best, Worst Beatles Songs (169 comments)

I’ve read the full list at this point and what upsets me is that “Here Comes the Sun” is at number 48 in the top 50. Also, I like A Day in the Life more than A Hard Day’s Night, personally.

I have the strange feeling that this would be better if it wasn’t so cluttered.

God damn you RCA! Now I can’t see Julian Casablancas embarrass himself and/or impress me live in Tokyo.

I need an american express card stat! Do all their live sets induce seizures?

0Posted on Sep 3rd, 2009 | re: Alice Cooper Thinks Vampire Weekend Have No Balls (67 comments)

There are still macho rock bands out, just no one I know worth mentioning. I’d rather see more indie bands play pre-rock styles like blues, jazz, and vauldeville, we cannot survive on Tom Waits forever. Also, more hardcore revivelists would be interesting.

This is the sound of Kyp doing his best U2 impression and succeeding. Did anyone else think that the cover art for the album looked like a five year old’s phsycadelic crayon drawings.

+1Posted on Sep 2nd, 2009 | re: Unlocked Kurt Cobain Sings Bon Jovi In Guitar Hero 5 (69 comments)

Correct. This is the kind of tastelessness that deserves a round of applause, and a few tears. It is weird seeing the ghost of Kurt Cobain sing the exact kind of songs he helped dethrone a.k.a hair metal.

 0Posted on Sep 1st, 2009 | re: Matt & Kim Play Kimmel (32 comments)

Stop complaining. The song is great. the only reason it sucks live is that Kim’s drums are so much louder than Matt and his keyboard.

0Posted on Sep 1st, 2009 | re: New Dirty Projectors Video - "Stillness Is The Move" (86 comments)

This is the greatest video ever to involve bright blue parachute pants. Did you know that when Dave stands still he naturally spins in a circle?

0Posted on Sep 1st, 2009 | re: Taken By Trees Covers Animal Collective's "My Girls" (28 comments)

Stop complaining about AC’s My Girls. It is a good song, even if it is slightly overhyped to the point of insanity. Though I do like this version better, it’s catchier than the original.

0Posted on Sep 1st, 2009 | re: Dirty Projectors Bring "Cannibal Resource" To Letterman (75 comments)

Saw the video. Nice but the vocals by Kim Gordon kinda sucked, I’d rather see Thurston Moore do it. Also the percussion section is not as memorable as in the original version. Though it does succeed in being a great clusterf***.

0Posted on Sep 1st, 2009 | re: Michael McDonald Covers Grizzly Bear (44 comments)

This could be a full circle if Grizzly Bear would cover I keep forgetting. I want to see that just kike I want to see Antony AND THE Johnsons cover beyonce.

Still beats the ponyo theme song.
