woah. after the tomboy/slow motion single and seeing panda live at pitchfork I had pretty much written off the new album completely. But these two songs… damn. the king is back.

This seems so bizarre, I mean year end lists makes sense, as does the whole “Bands To Watch” section (even if its just Stereogum basically taking a shot in the dark so if the band blows up they can take credit) but what the fuck is this? Most of these bands barely have an EP to their name, much less an album. You could have easily just made a mix tape with each of their best (or only) single and let us decide from there. But instead you’re actively hyping a bunch of bedroom projects that will most likely break up in 2011 due to their Macbook crashing. Go back to covering real bands.

Seriously, FUCK Best Coast. Her songs are bland, boring weed anthems that are just trying to capitalize on the already completely played out lofi beachwave bullshit her boyfriend helped create.

Also Cults should be #1.

@codyt3212 right right, gay bar and all that etc.

what I don’t get is why stereogum is mentioning a song thats been out for like a year now. Sure this was a standout track, ON THEIR DEBUT EP

Someone ran onto the stage during “Two States” to sing backup vocals, was that Thurston Moore?

+2Posted on Jul 14th, 2010 | re: M.I.A. Does Letterman With "Born Free," Martin Rev, Clones (26 comments)

Yeah, on the album her tone deaf singing is at least buried by the awesome sample, bringing it front and center like this live is just awful. Also if she had placed herself in the back of the clones or just didn’t have a spotlight clearly revealing herself maybe her message would have worked, but as it stands its just M.I.A. using people as ego-enhancing stage props.

Yeah but Paper Plates was actually fun to listen to

This is the coolest music video i’ve seen in awhile, and its a commercial. I’m sure that says something about the state of society today, but i’m too lazy to think about it.

Does anyone know if the rumors that James and his wife separated are true? I heard that somewhere and now I can’t help getting the divorce vibe off of this album.

Fantastic song, boring video

Way to shit all over one of the best remixes of all time, The Very Best.

So far i’m really disappointed with this album, it feels really thrown together and way too reliant on rappers that don’t seem to really fit the music.
