I feel like I’m listening to Chris Brown.
The mixing on this EP makes these songs extremely disappointing. Look at those slammed wave forms. It’s as if all dynamic range has been chopped out and we’ve been left with radio versions of everything. This makes sense as they’ve just signed to Atlantic ( responsible for ruining DCFC ). I hate to break it to you guys but the radio plays a very small part in the way people find music now ( even with tune in etc ) and slamming the shit out of your songs so they stand out on radio, well they don’t stand out anymore because not only is everyone else doing it, most people are getting their music online. So why don’t you offer the stems or something so some true engineers can mix it properly.
If you listen to the acoustic solo versions of boxing night and state hospital, you will see the true potential of these songs.
Do you see what happens when you put Community on hiatus! I hope you’ve learned you lesson!

He’s a pop artist and now he’s acting as if there’s some kind of artistic merit to how he puts his music out like some kind of hipster. As a boyfriend forced to put noise cancelling headphones on and listen to good music for an hour once a week, and as an audio engineer, it’s pretty apparent that everything they do on that show is in the studio and run through various plugins to get their covers to the level of cheese required. He either has no control over where his music is used (likely) and is complaining about his label’s decision, or he’s never watched Glee, because anyone who’s watched Glee and has a brain knows that half the instruments in those songs aren’t played live.
Well according to Randy Jackson, American Idol has had an “Indie feel” these past few years, maybe you should find music there.
Not funny, Echo Echo on Portlandia was.
