The point is not to convert the Stereogum community to a anti-drug war stance. We’re there. I get that.

I’m saying we should start describing the DEA and the CCA as akin to “monsters” , “kidnappers” and “predators” along the lines of Ariel Castro.

What’s the point?

… to expand and distort the “window of acceptable dialogue” or something like that…

Please don’t down vote this post.

If you or someone close to you had been affected personally by our drug laws
you wouldn’t think to down vote what I’ve posted.

There are DRUG DEALERS that live in the Hamptons. They peddle amphetamines and oxycontin.

Kanye came in they women’s mouth. Go Ye!!!

*are re:typo

PS. I dare anyone to put a proposition banning “medicinal SSRIs” “medicinal amphetamines” or “medicinal oxycontin” on the ballot in ANY state in this country. They would likely NOT pass.

…I only bring this up to demonstrate the level of hypocrisy and the power of special interests in our nation.

WAKE THE FUCK UP EVERYONE!

Our drug policies our DESTROYING our nation.

There are 45,000 people TRAPPED in a PRISON CELL right now over MARIJUANA related charges.

They were ABDUCTED by our government. They are CAPTIVES.

How many of them will be RAPED or BEATEN tomorrow?

What’s the difference between the DEA-CCA and ARIEL CASTRO?

Let me ask that again…

What’s the difference between the DEA-CCA and ARIEL CASTRO?

…there may be differences (what are they? think it through…), but they damn sure share a lot in common. Really think about. ABDUCTION. FORCED IMPRISONMENT. RAPE.

45,000 people. Lives destroyed. Families destroyed. Our cities in ruin. WAKE UP.

THINK FOR YOURSELF.

Yes, the issues you raise are genuine problems… but there is a bigger one.

Collusion.

DC and corporations have become so enmeshed that it’s impossible to getting anything useful accomplished for the 99%.

Everything is a payoff.

Have you ever done anything as brave/ridiculous/shrewd/stupid/brilliant/principled as sleeping outside in a frikin tarp to show you stand for something.

No, they’re protesting a corrupted, crumbling system that needs fixing. These guys made their money because they created stuff. Too many people are getting rich by scheming the system.

If you haven’t read Saul Alinksy’s “Rules for Radicals,” the time to read it is now, I’d say.

Actually, I HAVE listened to his songs… and while he does enjoy bragging about all he’s achieved and gained materially, his songs also include some of the most direct and emotional calls for social justice we have in music today…

…and there doesn’t have to be a contradiction there… people who work hard to CREATE things deserve to be rewarded…

the banks create NOTHING… they work very very very hard to create NOTHING… there is a difference there.

Bill Hicks is an immortal legend, whose ideas are more relevant than ever – especially to the increasingly watered down “indie” music world.

Justin brought his name into the conversation and for that he should be thanked. None of us are completely pure of influence from the corporate power structure, no matter how hard we try. You shouldn’t throw stones in a glass house.

What genius at Coke thought naming a beverage Mello Yello was a good idea? The whole thing reminds me of piss. Urine and soda don’t vibe together in my book.
